Trying to run pro-style with spread players. How is that SL's fault? He told Chizik it would not be successful.

Auburn also has a looming NCAA investigation that will certainly deter some of the better candidates from taking the job.

Barrett Sallee Barrett Sallee ?@BarrettSallee Doubt Auburn's NCAA issues are going to be an issue in its coaching search. Way overblown, from what I'm told.

Quick question for Auburn fans: Why was Loeffler even hired? He MADE TEBOW REGRESS in his final season at UF.

I mean good lord. You would think that would raise a red flag

Chizik wanted an OC that wouldn't question him and push back when chizik interfered with his game plan. Chizik had him change most of his plans before the games after CSL had created them.

Notice Roof is doing well after chizik. CSL will move on and do well also, he just wasn't ready for this level and this level of problems.

Did Auburn retain key guys on the staff to continue recruiting?

I read the al.com article earlier today about Chizik's lack of involvement being a disciplinarian. I have to agree that Auburn will get a good head coach because for at least the first two years he would surpass anything Chizik has done in the past two seasons. I never knew the full extent of the infighting between Chizik and Malzahn. Chizik should have stayed out of Malzahn's way and learned how to be a real coach from him.

I think AU's new coach is gonna prove how much this team lacked discipline. If they make a quality hire, look for him to boot about a half dozen players. Muschamp and Saban did so when they were hired. Get rid of bad apple and show everyone else that it will be different now.

i think chiz lost the team and had some pretty bad asst. coaches, esp after their oc left.

Dumb, Absolutely dumb. Auburn will never match up with The Dynasty but the firing of Chizik won't help our cause at all. They are the master cheaters and could get away with most anything now. You think this guidance counselor stuff is going to land on AU's doorstep? Not a chance - Even during a coaching change and turmoil the layers of cover-up are so thick at auburn they cant be penetrated. Shame that they have to run such a dirty program.

Having a new HC wont suddenly teach them how to tackle.

A new HC CAN bring new energy, see Tater Tot Bowden. Of course, Bowden inherited some fundamentally sound players from Dye, much like Chizik did from Tuberville. They just needed some renewed hope. The new HC at AU will be in a similar situation as Franchione was in when he took over for DumBose. He brought some renewed energy, but was later exposed as a fraud. You have to give a new HC a little time after their 1st couple of years, good or bad, to see if they're the "real deal".

I don't think Auburn was that talented this year. OTOH, Tennessee had a lot of talent and greatly underachieved this year.

He couldn't beat them with his own so if he'd better do it with Chiz's or they won't win one during his tenure.
