Auburn's BCS championship forever tainted?

In the court of public opinion (nationally), Auburn will always assume a certain amount of guilt in the Cam Newton case---regardless of the eventual outcome.
If Auburn is exonerated, people will just say it was well covered up.
Will this be the national championship (assuming they get it) that is forever footnoted?

it doesnt matter really. if we win it and are cleared, everyone will claim an * by it. or were guilty and they take it away.

of the 2, id rather be cleared and win it - then have everyone claim otherwise.

its the anti win/win tbh

dont know about footnoted but I think public perception will certainly be tainted throughout the country and for sure in the SEC

Who gives a shite what someone else thinks? If the BCS recognizes it, the haters can piss off.

By in the know SEC fans - yes.
By national media and casual fan - no.

It will be like the arguments non-UA fans make about some of Bamas more dubious title claims.

Since it came out mid season, I don't think anyone will even recognize them as champs. At least from a fan's perspective.

I don't think they're going to win it.

If they do, it will be stripped.

This is karma for Operation Red Dog.

Don't mess with BAMA.

For me no, if nothing comes of it and if they win ,and that is a big if, there is still alot of football to play. At this point I'm going on Cam is playing and if they win out they will be in big game. I would love to see the track meet between Oregon and Auburn. Or I would love to see them crush Boise or TCU.

They have to beat Bama, USCe, and possibily Oregon first...and The points for that game will probably be in the 100's

We have had undefeated teams get left out, teams get in the big game with 2 losses, split NC, etc. etc. Why should Camgate be any different. Prove AU did something wrong! Somebody is always gonna have something to say. Will AU fans care or listen if we make it and win? F no!

Heck bama recognizes 13 NC's and finally more and more are recognizing that lie so in time it won't matter all will be good. Remember none of you here are rooting for Auburn to win it anyway so the win won't be for you to enjoy.

true but Reggie Bush isnt viewed to have taken money from the school just an agent which doesnt offer a competitive adv to USC. WRongly or correctly Auburn is being viewed as having payed for him which hasnt been proven or even suggested as far as I know. If this just turns out he was ineligible then to me it isnt like it offered a competitive adv and is really no big deal. Had Bama lost games when Julio and Ingram or Marcell had to sit out over the last couple of yrs then I might feel differently.

The BCS will and that is all that matters IF we win it.

From a fans perspective im not much on a 2 loss team playing in the title game! Not sure I recognize that.

All seasons are different. If a two loss team is considered to be one of the top 2 teams in the nation by a combination of voters and computers, then they deserve to be in the game. Especially if they get there with fair play!

Does Auburn claim the 1957 title even though they were on probation for paying players then?

Does Alabama claim the 1941 title even though they finished 3rd in the SEC and finished 19th in the AP poll ?
