Just Do It: Auburn headed to Nike

Auburn athletics will be wearing Nike gear beginning in 2025 after the current deal with Under Armour runs out.

AUBURN, Alabama—A partnership with Under Armour that started in 2006 will be no more as Auburn Undercover has learned that Auburn will be signing a new deal with Nike to be the official apparel and shoe provider for the athletic teams beginning when the current deal runs out at the end of the 2024-25 school year. The new agreement could be announced as early as Tuesday.

The new deal is expected to be for 10 years and monetarily it puts the Tigers among the top programs in the country that will be wearing Nike gear, a source confirms. Connections like Bo Jackson, Charles Barkley and Apple CEO Tim Cook, an Auburn grad, all played a part in helping push this deal over the top. It's a deal that Auburn athletics director John Cohen recently hinted was close to the finish line.

"We feel like we're in a very, very positive place right now," Cohen said last week. "I think our fanbase and everyone connected with Auburn is going to be very, very pleased with where we are.

"Just not ready to release because not all the I's are dotted and the T's are crossed."

Now those details have been finished and the deal is done.

Auburn has been with Under Armour for 20 years and restructured the contract in 2015 for $78.1 million. The new deal will begin immediately following the last Auburn sporting event in the spring of 2025.

Sure. Nike has about 90% market share in the sport, but it’s only about Bama

Auburn really couldn't stay with UA any longer. They've been trending down for years.

Bring back Russell. The first time I saw Bama jerseys with that swoosh I wanted to puke.

Heard the other day that Champion is very popular again with the kids these days. And they make good athletic gear.

It's crazy how quickly Under Armour went down the toilet.

10/14 SEC teams use Nike. Auburn is just following big bro, a long time Nike team.

Poor Bama, desperately seeking validation wherever they think they can scrap it up.

Probably has zero to do with the fact that one of AU’s biggest alums is on the BOD of Nike.

The AU deal is bigger at this point…

Their uniform and colors are far superior.

Now if wal-mart dropped Bama you’d be F’d.

Why do Auburn fans drown themselves in that ugly arse orange when there's like one tiny stripe of it on the uniforms?

Why do Bama fans drown themselves in that ugly arse houndstooth when there's like none of it on the uniforms?
