The QB edition to this thread was not very fruitful of info, so we will try this one

With the departure of Thomas and Barber, how do you guys approach the season filling your 2 RBs spot. You have your sweep back/eye candy/outside run back. And you have your straight up the middle back. Robinsons seems to be your up the middle back, so does that default Johnson to be the Mccaleb/Grant back?

He doesn't look like he would fit it well. Y'all line him up at wild cat QB more than anything.

I know you have your 2 FBs you like and the freshman, Malik Miller.

What's the plan?

I mean, Roc wasn't really utilized at RB very much last season. He was a greater asset in the slot.

Jovon and KJ will be the primary ball carriers. Malik and Pettway will round out the rest of the RB group

Art Briles will be able to fix this situation, no worries.

I mean, he did that his freshman year because he as very talented and we wanted him on the field. We also had Roc, Barber, Robinson ahead of him last year.

Your analysis is like saying Derek Henry, based on his freshman year, is going to be a career back up because that's what he was mainly used for.

After A Day Roc was likely to be a slot receiver. I don't think it changes much unless Robinson gets hurt again.

Not sure Roc is for sure yet.

The transfer process has not been initiated yet, SEC Country has learned. Thomas has not informed Auburn coaches and he has not sought paperwork for the transfer as of Thursday afternoon, according to a source.

Apparently the Big Hurt prevented his son from transferring

Biggest Issue Roc leaving creates is depth. He is not going to be our feature back but will pick up some of the trash carries....

If Robinson gets hurt though, we are in trouble. That was the case with Roc here and will be the case with him gone. We do not have a #2 back that can be our feature back

So be gentle with Robinson will you

Roc will wear #2 at JSU to stand for '2nd chance'.

At a Tiger Trek, malzahn made the comment that they were throwing around the idea of play Rudy Ford on offense some too and he is one of the fastest guys on the team. If JF3 is truly a breakaway threat that can viably run the ball and make some catches, I wouldn't be shocked if he moved to a slot/speed back to be able to slide into wildcat without giving up a substitution.

As for typical formations, Robinson will be a workhorse as long as he stays healthy and out of trouble. KJ is every bit as good as Thomas is at everything we have seen and better at several things with a very high ceiling. Don't be surprised if you see Pettway and Cox in the backfield together running the ball in power sets with a tight end in the game.

IF we lose Thomas, it would hurt losing a potential playmaker that just needs the light to come on to be a really good player. But long him doesn't cripple us like it would have in other seasons or losing a workhorse 20 to 25 carry back like Robinson or potentially Pettway.

Where is Roc going? The JSU rumor was from January. Rivals and JGT are usually wrong.

Jason Smith will fill the McCaleb/Grant role, that is why I think Roc decided to transfer. Roc's main role would have been as a WR and backup RB. Something he did not want to do another year.

This has nothing to do with Alabama-Auburn, I'd say the same thing if it was an Alabama RB. I may be an Alabama fan but JSU is my school. Too bad we embarrassed Auburn on their own field, now Alabama will be too scared to schedule us >.>
