And if you really want to get down to it...

again you should know more about it before proclaiming it. Sorry, I am correct.

Auburn has a stronger claim than Chicago and Harvard in 1913? A stronger claim than Miami in 83 and a stronger claim than USC in 04? What years does Bama not have a strong claim?

You're talking about 66, right? Michigan State and Notre Dame both declined to play in a bowl game, how lame is that?

Extremely.

Anything prior to the poll era is pretty wide open. After the polls were established you need to win at least one of them to be legitimate. Auburn 1983 & 2004 would not be legitimate claims.
That's why I wish Alabama would abandon the 41 claim. All the others are legit BCS/AP/UPI polls, with the 25, 26, 30, & 34 the Rose Bowl wins and before the AP poll started.

All this is going to lead to is Urban Meyer and Ohio State claiming last years NC and claiming they ended the SEC streak at 6. Do you really want that Auburn?

As much as it sucks, I just don't think we can claim 04. I'm fine with 13, 83 and even 14, but 93 and 04 are a no, imo, even though USC vacated the title. If the AP decides to give us that one, fine, but I just don't think we can claim it until that happens.

Agree, but doesn't Bama have like 10 that are not in dispute? To go from 10 to 14 isn't as big of a jump as going from 2 to 9.

Yeah, all those crazy Alabama claims where the AP crowned Alabama the national champion.

You can scratch 1983 immediately off the list as a "stronger claim" because it is a carbon copy of Alabama's 1977 season. The similarities are pretty amazing in fact. BTW, Alabama doesn't claim 1977.

I can't speak for 1913 so who am I to question that claim. 2004 was a robbery only in the sense that Auburn started the year well behind Oklahoma in the polls and didn't have a fair shot in jumping an undefeated OU team that year. Auburn has a very strong argument for playing in the BCS title game that year but it's kind of hard to sell a championship in a year when literally no poll voted you #1 except the people's poll. In that sense, claiming 2004 Auburn is like Alabama claiming 1941 although Auburn obviously has a much much stronger claim to the 2004 title than Alabama does for 1941.

You wrong son. 1977 Bama played a weak arse schedule and is begging to be noticed and given credit where none is due.

In contrast 1983 au's schedule was one of the toughest ever and the team accomplished things no other team in college history ever has.

Edumacate yourself Gump. Then speak.
