Fantastic idea. Wonder if Sports Authority will sell 2004 NC shirts

How would the alumni and local media react to several new flags being hoisted at the stadium?

In contrast 1983 au's schedule was one of the toughest ever and the team accomplished things no other team in college history ever has.

Interesting. Which poll service declared au national champions in 83?

If it happens, I'll gladly say Auburn has nine national titles. I've always said everyone should go by what the school claims to have.

That said, it's gonna be hilarious when the Aubies backtrack on the whole fraudulent title thing.

between this and the aggie nonsense i guess we should just claim 1908, 1935, 1936 and 1962 and be done with it, then we can all be frauds together.

My issue is, don't make a dadgum announcement and bring it out to the media and everything.

Just wait til after the spring game, paint the numbers on the stadium and raise the flags. Don't make a fuss about it.

If it happens, I'm betting there will be special halftime recognitions given to the newly crowned national champs teams, at the very least

You wrong son. 1977 Bama played a weak arse schedule and is begging to be noticed and given credit where none is due.

1977 Alabama lost by a touchdown on the road the 2nd game of the season at Top 10 Nebraska. They went on to beat #1 ranked USC during the regular season and smoked the same Ole Miss team that beat Notre Dame a couple of weeks later. That same Notre Dame team that went 1-1 vs the two common opponents Alabama went 2-0 against jumped from #5 over #3 Alabama who destroyed Ohio State 35-6 in the Sugar Bowl. #1 and #2 lost and #5 Notre Dame jumped #3 Alabama.

That Alabama team despite "begging to be noticed" finished ranked #2.

P.S. You aren't very good at trolling if that's what you're trying to do.

This entire thread is full of awesome. Nothing but Auburn fans doing the exact same thing they have derided Alabama fans for doing for years, with not even a shred of self-awareness to be found from the majority of them. Plus, besides maybe 1913, these "titles" are far more specious than any of Alabama's claims. To claim a championship in the BCS era in a year when you did not even play in the BCS Championship Game requires far more balls than brains.

Auburn fans, I salute you. You have taken the "if we do it, it's ok, if they do it, it's stupid" mentality of this rivalry to an entirely new level. I am impressed.
