I can't believe someone out there cares enough to write that much about another school. Can anyone get a pic of this guys diploma?

I don't care about the other stuff, but this always gets me. Maybe compared to Alabama you don't have a lot of sidewalk fans, but you still have a lot.

Georgia still in meltdown mode? Awesome. Let me pile on.

How about we stroll down memory lane from 2010 and remember this quote from Stewart Mandel:

quote:

Question: Stewart, I am a believer that a fan base must always answer the question "And hire whom?" before they talk about firing a coach. If you cannot name a better option than the current guy, forget it. I find myself teetering on the Mark Richt discussion. If he goes, who would be your hire? -- Dave, Atlanta

I'm with you, Dave. If Georgia runs off Richt this year, it will be textbook Clemson/Ole Miss Syndrome. (Note the example cited in that link: Minnesota. How's that working out?)

Historically, Georgia is more prestigious than either of those teams -- but not as much as Dawgs fans like to think. In all my travels, I'm not sure I've ever come across a fan base whose self-perception is so far from reality. Georgia fashions itself a national power in the vein of Ohio State, USC, et. al., based primarily off one glorious three-year run 30 years ago with Herschel Walker (and some kick-butt years in the 1940s). Prior to this season, the Dawgs under Richt had vastly outperformed their historical "equilibrium," and in fact Richt's career winning percentage (.752) is the highest in school history (not counting Bobby Winston's lone 5-1 season in 1894). But in today's SEC, the goal is national championships, and three other league coaches hired by their schools more recently than Richt -- Florida's Urban Meyer, LSU's Miles and Alabama's Nick Saban -- have 'em. Richt doesn't. And at 0-3 in the SEC, winning one anytime soon probably seems like a very remote possibility. But realistically, the chances of hiring another Ray Goff are higher than the school landing its own Meyer or Saban. Texas head-coach-in-waiting Will Muschamp (a UGA alum) is a realistic and enticing possibility, but beyond that, there is not a single coach out there I'd consider an upgrade from Richt (and even Muschamp is no guarantee). Let's see how the season plays out. With a light upcoming schedule, a freshman quarterback who should theoretically progress and the return of A.J. Green, my guess is the Dawgs will go on a run. If they can salvage things and win eight games, and still fire him ... well, just take a look at Tennessee for a glimpse into their immediate future.

you're digging up articles from 3 fricking years ago? And UGA is apparently the fanbase that's obsessed or butthurt or whatever? Geez.

Btw, every single other UGA poster that has commented (other than the OP) has acknowledged that the article writer is a pussy. So how come phyllis for bama, tammy for auburn, etc are just blown off as "oh well yeah that's the crazy ones" yet the people for UGA who are out on the edge are considered the norm?

What in the frick? No we don't..and how in the hell would some sports writer for SI know what we "think"? Does he go to UGA games? Does he live in Georgia? Does he post on UGA boards? I think of UGA how we are, which is a top 15 program nationally. I don't think we are on OSU or USC's level prestige wise, and I dont' know a single UGA fan IRL who does either.

Ooooooooohhhh but someone somewhere on the internet said it so it must be true.

Well being from Georgia, everyone I know that went to Auburn it wasn't their first choice.but they do act like it was. I'm not saying auburn is a bad school. I looked at going there and I just didn't like it (and before you say oh you didn't get in, I got enough scholarship money from auburn to pay for school, I went to Uga my first year instead).

Here's the deal, UGA saw the SEC this way:

Tier 1: Alabama and Georgia
Tier 2: Florida, LSU
Tier 3: UT
Tier 4: South Carolina, Auburn, Mississippi St, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, etc.

Problem was by 2010 Alabama, UT, UF and LSU had all won national championships in the BCS era. But no problem, they were up next.

Then this absolutely killed them.

But no worries, the NCAA would find out eventually that Cam was paid and it would be taken back. Then the meltdown came when Auburn cleared them and even the AJC stopped talking about it.

So here comes 2012

No worries, we'll bounce back they said. Undefeated. No wait, 1 loss. Which loss? They never know, they're just trying to look humble.

Well the season nose dived from top 5 to unranked.

Then

I'm not sure how these guys even functioned.

UGA fan cries on radio after Clemson loss

It was like this x 100 I'm sure.

But no worries, Alabama would beat Auburn soon enough and all of this would be over.

Well, they won't beat Missouri, book it.

OSU is not going to lose.

Nightmare. It must be an unspeakable nightmare right now. Probably ruined their entire Christmas because Auburn is headed to play in their second BCS national championship and they have 0.

Instantly stopped reading. If you are too fricking retarded to see that you're making shite up, and not one.single.solitary.georgia.fan has ever said that, then you aren't even worth talking to.

but you posted anyways and you're reading my reply as we speak. I live in Georgia, I hear you guys on the radio already predicting you'll win next years NCG. i heard a woman call the other day say just that because Hudson Mason > Murray.

I'm sure if I went to the ajc sports blog I'd find plenty to back all of that up.

Some retarded arse aubies up in here. UGA recruits top 10 yearly and often ends the season in the top ten with some really good seasons thrown in. In the seasons where we took a loss someother team finished undefeated or had the media lobby for them. That being said, UGA is a respected program and has the ability year in and year out to beat any team we just haven't had a lot of luck or things fall our way. That being said, I know that article is hating but at the time UGA was a top 3 brand in merchandise sales so it's not as far fetched as some might think considering the program makes a ton of money and has become a a respectable program. No one gives two shits about what happened 30 years ago. We care about the program now and as long as we keep having respectable teams I'm positive if thigs go right one of these years we might have a shot at a title. That being said, UGA doesn't care that aubie or Bama has own titles.....only one team wins it every year so it has to be almost perfect and we just haven't had a season go that way. Our 2002 team was the best I have ever seen and still lost to Florida. :(

Aah, the long con, or the long troll in this case. Now I realize there's no way you're serious. You see, I lived in birmingham from 2011-2013. But ya know what? I'm smart enough (ie, I have a couple of brain cells to rub together which I'm not sure you've mastered yet) to realize that the dumbass, redneck, mouthbreathing, trail park subsection of the AU and UA fanbases that I encountered on a daily basis don't represent the entire fanbase. Apparently you haven't figured that out.

I will no longer reply to any post you ever make from this point forward, for you are too mind numbingly stupid to even waste keystrokes on. Good night.

you guys wanted a thread that bashed Auburn but got the tables turned on you. Next time start it in the Georgia section where you can carry on about how you'd rather be Georgia and have good seasons then to be Auburn and have a bad one in-between playing in the BCSNCG.
