In early linebacker drills, Auburn was lined up in terms of starters. The first unit was Kris Frost at strongside linebacker, Jake Holland at middle linebacker and Daren Bates on the weak side. Jonathan Evans, a senior coming off of injury, was working behind Bates on the weak side.
John Sullen, expected to start at left guard, was working on a stationary bike instead of going through stretches with his teammates. There has been no update on his status.
I don't think these short shorts are popular with players. Brandon Fulse was fighting with his pair every 30 seconds.
I saw Alex Kozan for the first time. Doesn't look as fit as some of the other young guys.
RB Jovon Robinson dropped a punt return and totally admonished himself. Yelled. Firey guy.
* Five-star linebacker Reuben Foster, an Auburn commitment from Auburn High School, was on hand to watch practice Wednesday. Auburn wide receiver Blaise Taylor was also in attendance.
* Sophomore offensive guard Eric Mack was not at practice, at least during the time open for reporters.

I see you're really trying to get past that 40 post per day hurdle.

I spotted him at practice yesterday in the back ground of some of those pics.

Taking kicks at the start of practice: Onterio McCalebb, Tre Mason, Robenson Therezie, Jonathan Jones, Ricardo Louis and Jovon Robinson. With McCalebb, Mason and Therezie all possibly playing key roles, one of the three freshmen could get a shot there.
On punts, it was Quan Bray, Trovon Reed, Joshua Holsey and Demetruce McNeal. Unless Holsey is dynamite back there, the likely returner is either Bray or Reed, as it was last year.
Jake Lembke was handling deep snapping duties, along with walk-on Michael Sulka.
With Holsey and Jones taking kicks, they weren’t doing pre-practice drills with the rest of the defensive backs, but freshman T.J. Davis was lined up with the corners. Both Holsey and Jones are smaller players, indicating they will probably be on the outside as well.
As he was in the spring, Blake Burgess was working with the tight ends and wearing No. 48.

He lined up back there last year with Mason some. He returned 5 kicks for a total of 112 yards.

I'd like to see Jonathan Jones back there some,if he's big enough.
Practive video
Louis is a big kid.

Yeah, I'd like to see Grant, Jones, or Louis at KR, since McCalebb, Mason, and Therezie will be playing pretty big roles this season and we don't need them getting banged up on kickoffs

Melvin Ray is a big guy compared to Coates and Blake.

Mason was such a playmaker at KR last year that I'd take the chance to run him out there for KR. Our bench at RB is deep enough to take that chance

quote:Mason is going to be our main guy at RB IMO. I doubt he plays KR too, since we have so many guys that can do that
