Auburn fans: Tell me about Ted Roof

He’s likely to be our next defensive coordinator.
I know he was y’all’s DC for a few years including the BCS Championship. He was also the Head Coach at Duke for a few years. Looks solid on paper.
But from your perspective, what’s he like? What are his strengths and weaknesses? How does he recruit? What style of D does he run?

My fricking God. Somebody hired that sorry arse. Dude doesn’t have a fricking clue how to defend a spread offense. Many highly rated football players’ careers were ruined by that man.

He was a good DC when 3 yards and a cloud of dust are what your opponent runs.

Played for Georgia Tech. He had the best game of his life against Tennessee in 1985 in a 6-6 tie.

His defenses are great at 2 things.
1. Keeping the ball in front of them
2. Giving up infuriatingly long drives for touchdowns a lot

If it’s 3rd and 6, the corners will give a 7 yard cushion. 3rd and 8, it’s a 9 yard cushion.
Tackling will be horrid.
