they should renew Steele til 2020. That would really stick it to LSU.

Remember Steele was hired away from LSU

I see your point, but don't the BoT members have some say in a decision of that magnitude?

Ya but it is justifiable. It is a smart move as much as I don't like Jacobs

-Malzahn is/was on the hotseat and that clearly affects recruiting for any coach. Extended him gives the perception of stability

-If Malzahn goes 8-5, there will be a polarized fan base. The extra buyout helps swing fence sitters. Honestly, given our QB debacle, that deserves another year given our schedule.

-BoT don't care all that much about $2mil, as if we are motivated enough to can him, that means there is money willing to be spent.

Was just browsing Auburns football schedule. Realistically I don't see them winning more than 7 games this year

Who do you see us losing too? Realistically of course...

TTs, this was a smart move by Jacobs. This is coming from a constant Jacobs basher too

Ironic thing about that meme is that you actually have to make it to a championship game for that to happen. So as an Arkansas fan you don't have to worry about that

What got Perkins, Curry, Dubose, Fran, and Shula run out of town ? I didn't mention Price because we all know what ran him out.

If the move was made for the perception of stability with Gus Malzahn as head coach, it could help with maybe one recruiting class. Gus Malzahn could still end up fired before NSD 2017 and Auburn would owe even more in a buyout.

shite, we love paying tons of money to former coaches that aren't even there anymore so it is what it is.

Monetarily, we are continue to set ourselves up for failure.

Good. I'm glad we're showing some confidence in him. Not many coaches are going to put out great results with the pressure of feeling like they're coaching for their lives.

Dudes been a HC at the college level for a total of 4 seasons. He's still growing as a HC so why not let him grow here instead of firing him after a couple disappointing seasons. Schools and fans are too quick to dismiss coaches these days. Coaches like Bryant and Bowden would have never made it in today's coaching world because it took them years to build their programs. In 4 years as a HC he's produces a conference championship 50% of the time so obviously he knows a bit about coaching. Let's see what he can do given some time. It's refreshing to see some patience and confidence in a coach for a change

Were you laughing or crying when you posted that?
