Are we in Bruce Pearl-or-bust territory?

Bruce Pearl isn't going to Auburn. He can get any number of far better jobs in the next year. I think Donnie Tyndall would be a solid hire for you guys.

Would certainly make sense. His show-cause isn't up until August, so even if a school is able to hire him, he can't have contact with any recruits until August.

I'm hoping he gets the alabama job when it becomes open.

I can assure you with 100% certainty he won't even be given a second of consideration.

Wojo...but he's likely waiting to step into the head role at Duke when Coach K leaves.

I can't see him not having that job, already, he handles many of the HC responsibilities, the one you will notice is dealing with the media during the game. Even if he doesn't, going to Auburn isn't going to help him get it in the future.

disagree. I'd guess billy donovan is who duke hires when coach k retires.

As for auburn, i'm in the michael white camp i guess.

no more or less than UGA, or any other number of football-first schools out there... it's what you make of it.

fwiw, coach k has gone out of his way in the past to stear his assistants away from auburn vacancies.

Are we talking about that rumor about capel from the first go around when we hired lebo?

Absolutely not.

Donovan made is job a "Duke job", he already quit on them once and they took him back with open arms. He isn't going anywhere.

Not exactly, the Under Armor contract kills your recruiting ability at Auburn.

if he wins it all this year, i could see him testing the NBA again... they are going to take a serious step back next year, and it's hard work constantly rebuilding in today's CBB.

I agree. For an assistant coach who is looked at as an up-and-coming candidate, taking most any SEC job would be a dagger to their career. It's just a shitty conference.

Maryland, UA's flagship school, has a great recruiting class lined up for next year.

this is one of those half-truths that gets spouted enough that it becomes fact.

i've stated it before on here... recruiting was not tony barbee's problem... it was keeping guys in school and developing the players he did have. Is it ideal?... no. Is it manageable?... the fact that several teams with UA have gone to the NCAAT, i think the answer is YES.

Eh, i figure with his USA duties he'll be spending some time with K.

Obviously it's easier to take the field than one guy, but i wouldn't say it's impossible.

But to stay on topic as opposed to talking head coaches for an ACC job that isn't even open...the UA scape goat needs to go away...it's that kind of thinking that kept us from firing barbee last year when we should have.

They're also a basketball-first school that put way more resources into it than most. Even still, they were at their peak when they were a Nike school. They switched to UA in 2008.

Pelphrey said being an adidas school "tied his hands" in recruiting.

We switch to Nike.

Recruiting problems remained.

It isn't the shoes and shite, its the coaches.
