Not surprised Auburn's offense is ranked 83rd. Chip Lindsey's 'Zona State team ranked 89th in Total Offense last year in a conference that doesn't play defense. Never understood why Malzahn brought him in.

Is Clifton Garrett not still on the team?

maybe eventually pick up an MLS team down the road.

Id rather shoot for an NBA team. But if we can have a successful MLS team that can help make the case for better pro leagues.

I know we are already getting a new pro soccer team in a league that I think is just one step below MLS

I get why they want that location and how its good for the whole city. But personally I still wish they could get an actual on campus stadium. Students and other South Siders being able to walk to games would help immensely with attendance and atmosphere. Plus the plan they had would upgrade the entire campus and just make that part of the city so much better to look. It would help bring in a lot of money to the school and hospital and would also be really good for the future of the city

but how many commuter schools manage to field great football teams? The urban schools (I've driven through UAB many times and it definitely qualifies and is heavily integrated into the city itself) usually tend to have better baskeball programs than football ones.

Houston, Louisville, UCF, USF and Memphis all have good programs, all are urban commuter schools. TCU was also in CUSA back then.

15 years ago UAB was on the same level as all these programs in CUSA, even had good basketball rivalries going with Lousiville and Memphis for a bit.

Difference is, those schools all get to make their own decisions and only have to answer to themsevles. UAB was held back and given no support by Bama, actively sabatoged in many cases. All those programs have moved on and up to bigger and better things. Louisville is in a P5 conference and several of those commuter urban schools are being talked about for expansion by the Big 12. No reason that UAB can't also have a lot of success.
