I am a student at UAB, and word is it will be built between Top Golf and the BJCC. I have no real insight tho.

When the original proposal was made a few years ago, before the attempted murder of the program, they were going to build it off University next to their current practice facility and new operations building. When you get off 65N onto University, UAB owns all that land to the left of University going back several blocks, so they have the space for a true on campus Stadium. And they were going to use it to eliminate several city blocks and give UAB more open grass areas and connect more of UAB and supposedly give it more of an actual campus feel, rather than the current urban feel. Students would be able to walk to the stadium from dorms without crossing tons of traffic. It was a nice proposal.

The BJCC, Top Golf thing sounds like it may be more of a thing where they're working with the city of Birmingham?

Stop riding our coattails, Auburn. You need to build up a respectable program by yourself, not hitch on to Vandy's brilliant star.

Not sure on exact details. The USL team will play there too, so facilities will have to meet soccer needs too.

That's probably the dumbest thing I've ever read here.

Which is it? AU used to score too quickly, so defense sucks. Now they don't score enough, defense should prosper.. I don't even know what to think.

It's being proposed to build it next to Top Golf in the Uptown area and share the cost/use with the city. That way the city can host a better bowl game, US soccer games, keep the high school state championships in Birmingham and maybe eventually pick up an MLS team down the road. Also, they want to redo the BJCC with it.

It will be a fantastic place for football. I am excited. UAB has the potential to be a great program.

Not that they can't -- they are deep in the heart of football country, after all -- but how many commuter schools manage to field great football teams? The urban schools (I've driven through UAB many times and it definitely qualifies and is heavily integrated into the city itself) usually tend to have better baskeball programs than football ones.

UAB has almost zero potential to be anything more than what they are. What would make you think otherwise?

Yet you're 2-1 and struggled to beat FCS Mercer.
Congratulations.
