Wouldn't expect a barner to know about year to year defensive improvements.

This coming from a fan of a team whose defense has gotten worse for 3 straight years.

As compared to the 2000 bammer team that started #3 and finished with 3 wins and the 2010 bammer team that started #1 and finished in 4th place in the western division

The runner in the picture of your original post is not wearing the standard "burnt orange"... and we both know it.

Do UGA next. Preseason polls do not mean much. We get that.

Don't you love it when betting services and bammers use history to try to prove a point when it comes to football. What does 1995, 2003, 2006 and 2008 have to do with this years players or coaches ? Most of these players were not even born prior to 1995.

I guess it helps them sleep at night and is a good talking point for their newsletter.

Rankings matter zilch. Vegas still has them as the fav to win the SEC. They are in business for a reason.

Still iron bowl looks to be the two best teams again.

Yeah, yet during that three year period that team has 1 national title, 2 SEC titles, has been ranked #1 for multiple weeks in each of those seasons, played in the inaugural college football playoff, went 21-3 in the SEC and 36-5 overall (while going 2-1 against your team). Please find another team in the SEC with a 3 year run like that all while getting "worse".

I'll wait...

So, 10-3 and another top 10 for Alabama this year? Probably reasonable.

1972: NR, #4, 10-1

Blocked a couple of punts along the way.

Auburn does seem to have a strange trend of overachieving/underachieving. It may just be a perception based on a few really notable years though. In any event this kind of trend is at most an interesting historical tidbit. It has no bearing on future performance.
