For sure. Every time the camera showed him on the sideline, he was stone-faced.

Didn't matter if he just made a 30yd TD run or threw an INT.

I would say Marshall was faster and had a stronger arm.

Hurts is probably more accurate.

This

Nick Marshall always ran the risk of throwing it no where near the receiver (luckily nowhere near defender either). Not super often but enough to be scary

Marshall had an elite downfield throw game, which Hurts likely will never touch. Hurts just inside 20 though is much better

Hurts is 6'2" 215 and squats 550. Stronger than NM.

Hurts dad is a high school head coach, and Jalen seems to have a very high football IQ. Very intelligent otherwise as well, was an early enrollee.

I agree with what appears to be a pretty consistent consensus.

Hurts may end up being a better passer but he isn't now. I do think he has better raw arm strength. He is clearly bigger, but not by much. He isn't as quick.

NM was a pretty damn good QB.

Hurts is just as effective or even more effective running the ball. Not sure if people look at stats.

I have to say, this is an enjoyable thread. You have Bama and Auburn fans having an intelligent, troll free conversation. This doesn't happen often enough.

Go us

Although, I think there miiiiight be a reason behind it

Us saying the two players a very similar is basically admitting Hurts sucks. Because I'm fairly certain most Alabama fans shite all over NM during his time at AU.

We didn't shite on his ability just his team. We definitely shite on those designed beyond the LOS pass plays though.

Jalen portion starts at 1:42. Not a long interview, but soft spoken and able to formulate coherent thoughts/sentences that we can understand. Advantage Hurts.

How would Hurts handle it if he got the snap on da hut instead of da hut-hut?

Speaking of Hurts running style, he reminds me of Tony Dorcett. They both just glide down the field and cover a bunch of ground. Hurts runs the open field with his head up looking for the cut point that is a natural gift. His run for one of his tds Saturday was a thing of beauty. He made the cuts and picked up his blockers and out ran the D to the end zone.

Seemed to never get rattled as well no matter what.

If you're saying that isn't part of Jalen's game, then you haven't watched him play yet.

Then they're dumb. I was glad when he graduated. There were jokes about how he spoke, but most of those stopped after he beat us in 13. He was a damn good college QB.

Indeed
I'm sure somebody will come along and frick it up soon. But seriously, Bama fans must be jacked knowing that you won't have to try to look for another starter for at least a couple more years.

Probably just the way he runs in that I always feels like he's running in slow motion and then look up and he's sliding off guys and running past guys. Cam is obviously much bigger and probably even faster. He isn't human.

Hurts running actually reminds me a lot of Jameis Winston.

Great thread, Prominentwon. Wish we could see this type of conversation more often. I'm happy to provide your first upvote. Kudos to Bama and Auburn contributors.

I think he is nick Marshall with more weapons around him and more time to develop. They share that intangible "winning" attitude, stay cool, calm, etc.

Definitely. It's been frustrating seeing a new QB go through early season struggles. It's always worked out well for us, but we haven't been winning due to QB play, but mostly in spite of it. Not only do we have a multi year starter, but he looks to be a playmaker.

The thing about NM is no one wanted him as a QB. Georgia got him as a DB. Gus said "nah, we'll let you play QB, come on over." So he did.

Can you guys lay out the differences between Jalen Hurts and Nick Marshall?

Well one got kicked off of the team that he started his career with. The other is TBD, but I would be surprised if he followed the same path.

LOL that's actually not bad. I guess it's just the way they run, all 3 of them, they seem to be going slower than they are.

Crazy legs was definitely the most entertaining though.
