No diss to Florida folks but I thought Gainesville was awful.

Any college town list with Athens at #39 is immediately disqualified.

I tend to agree with you but the mainstream press apparently does not. I would rate Boulder and Ft. Collins exceptionally high. Athens and Oxford. Madison, WI stands out as does Charlottesville.

But for the most part, towns are in the eye of the beholder. Most college towns aren't that different. They all have young womens and dive bars. Hopefully plenty of both.

Yep, though I have never been to Madison but obviously it is well liked by lots of folks. Been to all the others and they all live up to their reputations.

A google search of Auburn best places to live, provides rankings for CNN Money and US New which I would consider slightly more reputable that Kiplinger and Best College Reviews

Right along the lines of other highly ranked places by CNN and US News which overwhelmingly end up being lilly white suburbs like Woodstock and Alpharetta.

That isn't my cup of tea, but there isn't anything wrong with it either. There just isn't really any soul in places like that.

But that is why people get a choice on where to live and where they want to go to school.
