This is not the Ohio States, Notre Dames, Oregons, Oklahomas that the SEC has had to play in the past. This FSU is stacked with SEC caliber players at every position. These are the recruits that all the SEC teams wanted but that they beat us in getting. They have the best D-line Auburn has faced, best secondary, and some of the best LBs. The way I see it:
QB- FSU
RB- AUB
WR- FSU
O-line- push
D-line- FSU
LBs- FSU
DBs- FSU
FSU wins by more than 14. Jameis torches this Auburn D and give up less than 24 points to Auburn

This is the only BCSCG I can remembered where it seems like the SEC team will be outmanned up front. FSU's front seven is fierce.
I disagree. I think we way outman them when we're on offense on the line and think we outman them but not by as big a margin when we're on defense (but we will be much less tired because we rotate so many d-linemen)

Maryland, Clemson, Miami, Duke. Those are FSU's 'Big' wins.
Absolute blowouts over at halftime.

Could've, and at least in UGA's case should've, gone the other way.
I still think AU wins though

AU needs to find some D and quickly or it could be a blood bath.

I'll take UGA over Duke

I doubt it'll be a blowout. AU can score too quickly to count them out.

Y'all will get yards on the ground, but FSU will be able to contain it better than anyone AU has played so far. Tim Jernigan, Eddie Goldman, Mario Edwards, Telvin Smith and co. are really, really good, especially with a month to prepare.

Unbelievable turnaround for Auburn in one year but FSU wins this one - Fisher has that program built in the mode of Saban and it's starting to show.

This. And I think their DBs are good enough that your QB will not pose a threat throwing the ball despite them focusing on the run.

With time one forgets OSU of 2007 was not going to be denied. Look at their record that year, only close game was a win over undefeated UM. OSU 2008 would not be denied twice. Nobody could stop Oregon especially Auburn's lousy defense. OU had insane numbers in 2003. Even more insane in 08, they won 12 games averaging 56 points of offense in those wins. Lost 24-14 to a UF that had lost to Ole Miss.
In their time, nobody could beat those teams.
Notre Dame... that was strange.

Gus also had a month.

Yes, but the time between the season and bowl games help the teams preparing for unique schemes the most. Look at the struggles of the triple option in bowl games. i know AU's offense is not the triple option, but it's a similarly unique scheme to prep for. Oregon contained Gus' offense in 2010, and AU contained Oregon even better. The time off helped the defenses prepare for those schemes. FSU, on the other hand, doesn't do anything out of the ordinary on offense or defense.

Rather than compare which group is better, I always prefer seeing the analysis of which groups are up against each other. I.E. OL vs DL, backfield vs LBs, WRs vs DBs.
The biggest matchup will be the trenches (obviously) but even more so, AU's DBs vs FSU's WRs (at least while AU is on D).
I think AU's OL can win in the trenches. I think it will be up to FSU's LB to contain. If their DBs are better in open space than Bama's, then they can cheat up their safeties and that could end up being the key. If they can't, then the matchup is more favorable to AU.
This may be the game where AU has to throw a lot more (25-30 times). It honestly depends on how those DBs work out for FSU, IMHO.

This is why I think Auburn wins.
We have all seen this movie before.
I think Gus experience in NCG trumps Jimbo. He is an average coach IMO. Jameis lacks experience against good teams.
Auburn wins.

It clearly comes down to the DB versus WR. Corps. And FSU has the advantage on both sides. Their WR>>>>>>AU dbs. And. FSU dbs >> AU wrs.

According to ESPN's strength of schedule metric, FSU has the worst schedule strength ranking (No. 64) of any team to play in the BCS National Championship in the past 10 seasons. The teams with the next-worst SOS rankings (2006 Ohio State, 2007 Ohio State and 2009 Texas) each lost to SEC teams by at least 14 points in the national title game. On the flip side, Auburn has a SOS ranking of No. 29 and has a chance to become the first team in college football history to win three consecutive games against top-5 teams, having defeated then-No. 1 Alabama and then-No. 5 Missouri in its past two games.
All you need to know....it's gonna be one-sided

Strength of schedule is a reach, especially since no one played FSU close. Auburn has clearly gad dome breaks go their way. FSU just dominated everyone they played and that's all you can ask them to do. Auburn is reaching for all the advantages they can to make themselves believe. There us a reason that the line just went to 10.5.
