I remember a pretty decent ruckus at Northgate prior to that Reggie McNeil OU game.

I remember drinking beer at a bar on northgate after the 2000-2004 games with OU fans. They seemed nice enough.

I appreciate all the info.
Decided to knock out most of my work for Thursday today and will attempt to talk my way out of actually having to go in so I can leave here early and make to College Station much earlier than I had anticipated so I can have more time to check out everything. The Bonfire Memorial & Bush Library are 2 things I'm definitely going to try to make it to if I have enough time to on Friday. If not, I'll be planning another visit to the area soon enough and actually make it to a game next time around.

Btw, need to go book a room for the Thurs night before Isaac hits and cuts out our power over here. Any suggestions? I'm guessing somewhere close to the campus/Northgate area probably since it sounds like I'll be this are most of the time anyway.

The hotels near Texas and University intersection are the closest to Northgate.

LINK

There's a Hampton Inn and Fairfield Inn close to there and a few others as well.

It means its a Daquiri Bar much like you will find on Bourbon Street.

Think Fat Tuesdays/Any random Daquiri slut house on Bourbon.

Cafe Eccell - A little higher end, but wonderful food and award winning desserts on Northgate.

I like to eat here when I'm in college station.

That's about all I have to contribute to this thread.

ocelot... you're going to the wrong places then.

I can name you several bars that have blues, r&b hipster indie bands, southern rock, etc.

Schotzi's
Church Street BBQ & Blues
Revolution
The Village
Zapatos
Cedar Lane

Only places that have country music are Harry's, Fitz's (sometimes), Daisy Dukes, and the old Hall of Fame.

I haven't been down there in quite some time. Just flaming away based on the old culture. We used to have to go to the Didgeridoo out in Bryan to hear anything that wasn't country.

Those new places have live music that's not country a majority of the time? That's awesome.

From what I've heard from older Aggies Northgate has changed quite a bit in the last few years. I don't really know because I was there from 07-11

Yep. The Village and Revolution are huge Hipster places.

Schotzi's is a mix of Southern Rock (North Miss All Stars were there not too long ago), R&B, Comedy standup and Cover Bands.

Church Street is very Memphis-esque in Music. Mostly Blues and Jazz, but they have some other acts that filter in.

Zapatos is a mix of everything.

Shane -- Northgate has done a 180 in 10 years.

Completely different and that is from someone who was there from 2000-2004.

With all the new apartment buildings and bars and restaurants being built now I'm barely recognizing it from what it was 5 years ago. It should be an awesome area when everything is done

Rebels Draft House -- 100 beers available including all the Abita beers

Wrong. I'm a bartender at Rebel (no "s") Draft House. We have 59 beers on tap, and several more in bottles/cans, and we only have four Abitas (Turbodog, Amber, Purple Haze, and Andy Gator). Five if you count Abita Root Beer (also on tap). We're LSU's Northgate HQ on October 20th.

They were advertising you guys as having 100 different types of beer.

BTW, your tap selection is wonderful. I tried and succeeded to get drunk off of Andy Gator one night. BAD DECISION.

Hope you guys have fun in College Station. Here's a little map of a section of campus that includes locations of tailgating and great spots to be before the Corps of Cadets & Aggie Band march in to the field.
