This is my first post to the Rant, so be gentle. But I have a few comments.

One, it's Missouri State. That SMS stuff is giving me flashbacks to 1991-1996.

Second, are tickets to an MU baseball game really only $5.00? Is that a common price in the SEC?

Finally, I recall a few years back MU played a game at the Rascals stadium in O'Fallon. A few exhibition games like that spread around the State would help expose more people to the program.

I'm planning on taking my son to a game here sometime soon. Even with gas prices being up, it's still affordable entertainment.

- Second-winningest coach in Mizzou history

I think he's only our 3rd coach since the 1930's. So there's stability in that position but at the same time, doesn't take much to be the winningest baseball coach at Mizzou given the fact they play more games each season now as opposed to 40 years ago.

Overall, I think TJ has done a solid job at Mizzou. I'm not sure if he can get over the hump though to make us competitive in the SEC (I didn't say WIN the SEC, I said competitive).

If you were "decent" among those guys, you should at least be able to compete ... make things interesting, correct?

We were "decent" up until about 3 years ago. The last 3 years, and this year, have not been quite so pretty. Really bad time to have your baseball program in a down swing as you move to the SEC. If this were 2005, yes, I think we'd be good enough to at least make things interesting, maybe win a few games, and even upset some teams and win some weekend series.

As I've mentioned before, there isn't the fan support. We're in a 100,000 person town, and we've pretty much got to draw the crowds from that. Obviously, it's got to become more important, but we really need to students involvement.

The local fan support will be relied on for weekday games. But for the weekend games, I think they need to draw in fans from outside the COMO area. I know I've said it before, I'm taking my kid's team down there from STL for a baseball tourney that works around the Mizzou games so we can catch them as well. If they get the games on local radio here, where people can listen and get interested, I think you'd see more people making the trip on a weekend to catch a game or 2 or 3. I'm not talking about drawing 8,000 to games, but get attendance into the 1000's instead of 100's.

Welcome MIZZ!

I don't know about ticket prices anywhere else, but I imagine if Mizzou charged much more than that, all it would do is drive down the dismal attendance numbers we already have. They have to drive up demand for the tickets first and to do that they have to ramp up the promotion of the team and get interest levels up.

Great idea about playing at the minor league parks and what not. I'm beating a dead horse, but I also think they need to get the existing broadcast onto crappy little local AM stations or something so people outside of COMO can hear the games other than streaming them.

I thought Mizzou was game today, from the way it sounded. Eight hits on our guy is not bad at all. And error cost you and the long ball, but me thinks Mizzou may not be as bad as we were being led to believe.

I'm coming up for the LSU series on Good Friday. What hotel is the best to stay in?
