I guess when you can't seem to win the big games on your own field...

Looks like classless Auburn turned the hoses on the crowd in the stands to me.

“Coach Dye laughed about it, he said they needed a bath anyways,”

They were grabbing at the turf. They wanted a piece of the grass.

Auburn officials turning water cannons on fans still sitting in the stands was one of the dumbest, worst things I've ever seen in terms of "game management."

I was a student at the time. Being extremely pissed at the loss, I was already half way back to the fraternity house by the time we turned on the sprinklers. Then I was pissed when I later saw the highlights on ESPN of what I'd missed.
By the way, back in the day, Auburn used to let fans on the field after all the games. As a kid in the 70's, I remember UGA fans grabbing everything that wasn't nailed down after a Georgia win in JH.

Rushing another team's field after a win has to be the lowest of the low correct?

Actually I'd say it's pretty frickin badass. How many other times have you seen that happen? We knew the limpwrists at AU would offer little resistance so we did what we wanted. I doubt you ever see a visitor rush the home team's field again.

I was a student at AU when this happened. As a Bama fan that just went to the games because I had student tickets, I just sat and laughed at the entire situation.

I believe this was the last year that Auburn didn't have thorned hedges around the field.

Except that did not happen... someone who got on the field turned them on the stands... the sprinklers were set to hit the field only...

ETA: I believe it was an Auburn Student and he was arrested...

They've started doing this again, albeit in a much more orderly fashion, but I'm not sure if its for all the games.

I was there with my friend whose parents were Auburn fans. We were heading to the exits when the UGA fans stormed the field, and we sat down and watched it for a few minutes. It was a pretty chilly night as I remember, and I bet that water was freezing.

Saw a few fights break out on the way back to the car. Friend's dad was drunk and pissed. All the Auburn fans were pretty pissed. Even as a 13 year old kid, I could sense the tension in the air outside the stadium.
