So a fanbase shouldn't expect their team to compete for national titles? What's the point of being a fan then? What is the norm for Ole Miss?

Based on what? LSU is one of the 10 or 11 best programs in college football history.

Wait until you have a few really bad seasons. I think you'll be surprised by how fast you drop.

It all depends on the situation and the state of the program.

At Tennessee, it wouldn't have been good enough under Fulmer but it's an improvement now from where they've been. Obviously, they still have to build on that.

As for LSU, yeah the last couple of years have been shaky but the program is not in bad shape at all. Look at the players you have coming back. LF7 will be a Heisman frontrunner at the start of next year.

Not sure what happens with Miles, but I don't think he just suddenly forgot how to coach. It's a hell of a lot tougher to win in this league if you aren't surrounded with quality assistants.

For reference,
Les' winning percentage last three years: .542 (13-11)
Will Muschamp's in conference play at UF: .531 (17-15)

All the more reason to get a new coach now and give him a chance with those guys before they are gone.

Better question, how many of us thought our HC, DC, every position group were the best in conference? That we had actually played a team with a pulse when in fact the team hadn't? Thought that the offense was balanced and QB was top notch?

Question for you, why didn't you listen to us? We've been telling you this for four years. Stay on the line and listen for a change.

Damn right Cajuns, Fire Fulmer! Its not fair that Bama gets to have UT as an annual opponent and we have to face a consistently competent team, I want a cross-divisional opponent where the fanbase forces out a good but not elite coach "because we deserve better".

Jimbo won't be better because he won't have the luxury of following Saban

Two problems with this comparison-- Les has a better track record; and frankly Florida has and should have (slightly) higher standards than LSU, if you look at the SEC since we started having title games its basically been- Florida-Alabama (in whatever order you want), LSU-Georgia (in whatever order you want) and then Auburn-UT (in whatever order you want) -- look at conference titles, national titles, appearances in either game etc, and other than Georgia being a massive underachiever in terms of National titles (partially on bad luck) its a pretty clear 3 tier of schools that actually matter on the National Level.

Here's the thing. 13-11 should be the benchmark for LSU. You've just been spoiled

and that's exactly how a stint of mediocrity happens.

Coaches should be reevaluated annually not just on what they have done, but what can they do? Is there anyone who can do better? Is it worth the cost?

If you are talking about Auburn then yes they would happy, but it will never happen as long as the Gus Bus is parked down in Lee County.
Bowl eligible is about the most they can hope for.

Gus has a pretty ugly SEC record the last two seasons and you don't see the Aubs melting.

You need to show some patience like Auburn.

That'll get you a statue, a banner and $4 million per year in Columbia, SC. Sad but true.

Les Miles is a very good coach... but I can certainly understand the frustration of the LSU fan base and I can't necessarily say that I would feel any differently. However, this movement to fire Coach Miles is purely driven by emotion. There has been very little logic inserted into any of the arguments that I have heard.

Change for changes sake is rarely beneficial. Making a change when emotions are high is especially foolhardy. Let the man finish the season, evaluate his performance logically and then make your decision.
