You'd need to see a couple different scenarios happen for it to be possible, beginning with someone upsetting TCU soon.

But my guess is if Georgia beats Alabama, its two, if Alabama beats Georgia, it depends. But if the Big 12 kills itself, every borderline acc team knocks themselves out, and someone gets Notre Dame it'll be two. May not even have to take that much.

the only thing that keeps an 11-1 ND out of the playoffs is 4 undefeated conference champions

And it pains me so fricking much to say this

But If they go 11-1 this year they are deserving

For the first time ever

There is no way a 1 loss notre dame is not getting in. Period. They will lose again however. Probably to stanford.
So final 4 will be bama, uga, penn state, clemson

It is impossible for Notre Dame to finish 11-1 and for the ACC to produce an undefeated champ.

I was talking more conceptually on that point

a 1 loss ND will typically get a better shake than a 1 loss conference champ; especially Big 12 and PAC 12 (not counting USC, who plays ND every year)

ACC MIGHT have pulled even with ND because of the recent national championships from Clemson& FSU - plus Miami is a strong draw

the playoffs are as much (more) about ratings as they are about what is "fair"

Why does Bama get in regardless but not UGA? If anything UGA would have the better resume outside of that game with a win at Notre Dame. UGA gets in over an 11-1 Notre Dame.

You know the answer, and I doubt it.

wonder if it comes nut cutting time, the committee Unofficially lumps ND in with the ACC. If ND runs the table, they are the de facto ACC champ as far as the playoff goes. Unless both are undefeated, I don't see ND and the ACC champ getting in.

It should be this way.

No, i don't think so unless the rest of the top teams just have a blood bath in november.

No; the best scenario for both to make it is GA winning in a very close game.

It depends a lot on how the rest of the college football landscape plays out.

No. Don't win your conference and you can't be the best team in the country, therefore you shouldn't make the playoff.

No way will the committee select two SEC teams. They may try to put two big ten teams in, providing they have the credentials but not two SEC teams.

So again why is the consensus that if GA wins, both get in, but if Bama wins, just Bama does? Either result literally produces the same outcome. #1 and #2 going in and either would have just one loss to the likely new #1 team.

I know the answer, Bama bias, but I think it's ridiculous.

I don't think it's a guarantee that Bama gets in if they lose to GA, I just think this scenario offers the highest chance bc

2 SEC teams aren't going to the playoffs. Period. The conference is perceived as too weak, therefore the strength of schedule for either team won't be enough. Also, the rest of the country wants to see the SEC taken down a notch, and that'll damn sure be a factor when it comes to a vote. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 Big-10 teams there though.

Yep. If ND finishes the season 11-1, they will have the best resume of any 1 loss teams.. Wins against USC, Miami, Michigan State, NC State and Stanford. And a 1 point loss to UGA.

Alabama has won 68 National Titles in the past 12 years. They are entitled to a playoff game no matter what
