To get the correct answer just, compare their records as head coach at the same school - same season.

This is a trick question right? Orgeron vs Kiffin? Do ya think Orgeron could of done what Kiffin did at Alabama the last 3 years?

Orgeron didn't deserve the LSU job but now that he has it (as an Alabama fan) I hope he keeps it for the next 30 years. He's not smart enough to build a champion.

No, Jr couldn't have done what kiffen did at bama. He's not an OC now is he?

kiffen couldn't have done what Jr did at LSU. That's for sure.

Kiffin wouldn't lose to UF, so I agree with you.

Lane as a HC and as a leader

he has been a pretty terrible "leader" in his coaching stops. with hiring kiffin you just never know when he's going to bolt to another job whereas with Orgeron, you would have solid recruiting and some stability in the program. 8-4 and 9-3 seasons probably the norm with O.

This year I would have hired neither. Both coaches have failed in their prior stops with one failing big time. Both have more experience now and it will be interesting to see how much each has grown as coaches and if they have grown up any over the last 8 yrs or so. Orgeron has everything in place to win 10 games per year and maybe have a championship run every 3 or 4 years. He really needs to keep Saban out of his back yard if he wants to be elite though. The Louisiana haul in this year's Bama class is a thing of beauty, helping Bama stay on top while directly affecting the quality of LSU as a football team at the same time.

Both coaches appear to be undesirable and looks like it's for two different reasons. Orgeron failed in his first attempt at HC with Ole Miss in 2005 compiling a 10-25 record in 3 years. Kiffin's success and record as HC at Tenn & USC is significantly better at 35-21. Kiffin's areas of improvement are behavior, responsibility and maturity.

Agree. Both have made mistakes and Orgeron has admitted to his publicly.

I agree and we'll see how he does.

There's a couple committed to Bama that LSU pushed hard for a commitment from. LSU's 2017 class is currently ranked 4th and will still finish with a stellar class.

It is definitely an elite class. My point is that Saban has secured commitments from 2 elite linebackers (one is a game changer) and LSU needs players there. It won't hurt as bad to lose the 5 star receiver that is going to pick Bama but it still hurts. How much better would the tigers have been with Tim Williams and Cam Robinson? Talent is there and LSU is the second most talented team in the SEC but they will never be #1 in talent when the best State talent wants to play for Bama. I do think coach O will do a good job. You don't have to be a Saban or Meyer to win at LSU.

Lane Kiffin with a good defensive coordinator! He will turn the FAU Owls around! No doubt in my mind!

Yes, LB is definitely a position of need for the Tigers. One of these LB's (Dylan Moses) was originally committed to LSU for quite a while. This kid actually grew up in Baton Rouge and attended high school at U High which is oddly enough located on LSU's Campus! He is one of the top overall prospects for 2017 and losing his commitment was a big blow for the coaching staff to absorb.

It amazes me that anyone would pick Orgeron over Kiffin. Orgeron is in his mid 50s and has never been promoted or hired to be a defensive coordinator. He's spent his entire career as a position coach with one stint as Head Coach at Ole Miss. His resume is heavy on recruiting skills not coaching. The reason he's never been hired or promoted to be a coordinator is because he's not smart enough for the job. If he was a great coach he would have been promoted or hired by one of the head coaches he's worked for or stolen away by some admiring coach somewhere else. Orgerons record at Ole Miss was horrible. He proved he's not a great coach. And if you're not a great coach you don't deserve the head coaching job at a great football school like LSU.
