Not sure that the SEC gives that much thought into that or not. While they would like them to do well they are now in the Texas market. And believe it or not there are more people in the state of Texas that would rather watch aTm lose than win. You will also learn that the SEC is more interested in what Bama does than aTm. Bama is their bell cow.

The SEC/Bama want SEC Network subscriptions. Period. And fans don't hammer cable providers to sign up to watch losers, or to watch people lose.

There is a reason Texas A&M is the first SEC Network game. There is a reason Bama let A&M in the SEC.

$$$$$$$$

If we do well, and the SEC Network gets picked up by every cable provider in Houston, that is more money than if you signed up everyone in the state of Alabama. And that is just Houston- Texas also has Dallas, San Antonio, etc.

If you haven't noticed, the SEC DOES care about what happens to A&M. frick what Arky thinks is a tradition on T-Day weekend and frick if LSU gets hard SEC East teams while A&M gets easy ones. A&M is the biggest un-pillaged goldmine in college football and the SEC Office/Bama are getting ready for the raid.

Texas is by far the most valuable program in college football. They are that way (instead of say UF) because they have had shitty local competition for those $s (ie: US). But their war chest shows how much A&M can grow if we got more popular in the state.

So we cut a deal with Bama/SEC. Give us a brand, give us a T-Day rivalry, give us respect nationally, and you can take all of Texas's money your arms can hold. We have enough money (look at that stadium bond) but not enough respect. Bama has respect, but faces a future where its harder to keep up with the Oregons/Texas's of the world $-wise.

So we made a deal with each other, and the rest of the SEC can get fricked until Bama gets paid.

EDIT: Oh and LSU/Arky/whoever gets paid too so don't bitch too much.

ok superfan.....do you really give a shite about the 2008 season for example? i don't.....but why don't you tell me why i should?

I dont care if you do or not. You shouldn't live your life worrying about others. I was just explaining that most of the people on this site care a whole lot about their universities win or lose. But I for one did care about 2008. Spent my hard earned money and supported my university. Either way this got way off topic.

I understand all of this but the point made was that the SEC office would somehow have it out for A&M. While they don't need A&M, even to have a presence in Texas, it certainly isn't in their best interests to go after A&M to harm them right now. So far A&M has gotten some very favorable scheduling and strong pub. Last year the UF game was a spectacle. This year it's the Bama game. next year is set up with A&M/USC to launch the SEC Network.

I understand Bama is the bell cow and the SEC office cares about other schools as much as A&M, I'm just saying they aren't stupid. A&M was added primarily because we increased the footprint of the SEC 40% with one stroke by adding Texas. While the SEC is making great inroads into the market until the SEC Network is picked up on regular cable/satellite in Texas they are going to want to feature A&M at least somewhat and they certainly don't want A&M on probation or struggling.

Like I said, the SEC is candy canes and lollipops. The Big 12 for instance made TCU take a half share of TV money for the first 3 years just "because". They set up a permanent home game on Thanksgiving for Texas. Do you think any of that would fly in the SEC? Ever?

You're wrong here. Bama fans (most any way, not talking about some random dude you saw at a gas station or heard call in to the radio) DO want Manziel to play.
