Les is and will always be an elite coach but more importantly a great man.

LSU made a mistake firing him.

I kinda know what the OP means...and then I remember all those years as a kid, dealing with Auburn fans talking trash, incessant teasing for loving Bama football, "fear the thumb" crap, and, oh personal favorite..."Bama fans just live in the past and they will never come close to former greatness again"

The heavy burden of non-stop winning... it is a load to carry.

I was reared in Gainesville, FL. In the 1950s-60s the Gators regularly were a 5-5, 6-4 team. I loved going to the games as a lad... selling cokes... and I remember every win to this day such as beating Ga. Tech by one scoring a 2-pt conversion the first year the rule was used. The losses have long since faded from memory.

Returning from Vietnam in 1969 I entered the U. of Alabama and was associated with the University off and on for the next 10 years. During that time Alabama lost about 14 games total. I remember every loss to this day.

Constant winning is a burden to carry, while losing has its own rewards ... just ask every other SEC program. They are blessed with mediocrity and the gift of joy when the upset win eventually happens.

The rest of college football, especially our SEC brethren, didn't care the way they treated Bama during our dark years of Dubose, Shula.

We treated you guys so badly because Alabama fans were insufferable assholes before the dark years. It was only payback.

I can see how you have revenge in your heart. But I like to think I'm not that petty.

You aren't a big bully. Actually, you aren't shite.

You're a t shirt fan from Alabama.

Sorry to let you in on the secret. It's just a game played by young men.

Damn. What a truth bomb.

Why is it that we as fans only gain this type of perspective when the team isn't doing well?

It is a way to rationalize failure.

Wars are fought by young men too. Just because it is young men doesn't mean the stakes aren't high.

And a game coached by grown men. They have feelings to.

Gus got Les fired. Bama didn't have anything to do with it. It was all Gus.

When I would beat my little brother in Mortal Kombat he'd get mad and say I just care about the game too much. I had a lot to learn from that kind of maturity

Maybe your brother needs to put his hat in the ring to coach at LSU.

People outside of Alabama actually have lives outside of college football. Sure it sucks when the tigers are struggling but it has no bearing on my life and feelings as a person.

You can't honestly feel that the teams accomplishments have any bearing in your life do you?

But hey, keep on keeping on with what you need to feel relevant in life
