Rice's connections are to Notre Dame and Stanford - Briles is an idiot if singled her out.

He just mad. I guess I don't blame him for a press conference outburst only a few hours removed from the announcement. If he keeps this shite up though for the next few days (he probably will), he gets what he deserves.

He made a big deal out of going to Buffalo and playing to a black-out crowd.

Here is a point...my husband was in Buffalo meeting with an attorney who is a big sports fan. He made a statement that although Buffalo had a pro football time they did not have a college team.
Buffalo is so significant that people in Buffalo don;t even know they have a team.

Yeah but man... he really showed his arse. He should have taken the high road like Patterson did.

I didn't see his comments but if he blasted her pretty bad then yeah - that's not what you do. I mean I can understand being upset but bite your tongue right now. Cool off. THEN address it.

Next thing you know, Briles is going to pull a Lavell Edwards and complain that his team is so much better than Michigan State that they don't deserve to be on the same field...at which point, Michigan State wins 65-14.

I actually don't mind him speaking out at all, and I completely agree with him. The Big XII got screwed here.

He needs to re-direct his targeting. As long as 1/3 of the committee is comprised of Big Ten lackeys, then they will continue to get the benefit of the doubt when it is crystal clear that it is the worst of the power conferences. MSU and Wisconsin shouldn't have sniffed their rankings. I hope Baylor beats the snot out of MSU in Dallas.

My wife who is from up that ways, says Buffalo football turnout is like community college soccer. Briles should have never brought up Buffalo. Should have forgot they went there.

Guess that is why they had a record crowd....if they really did.

Remember when everyone bitched about Stoops constantly running up the score on rent-a-wins? Being up 77-0 in the 3rd quarter, etc?

Its about to make a return in the big 12.

Yes, the elephant in the room of the committee is the ties back to the B1G by the members, which is needed as the conference is down compared to the past.

Why is it needed? Viewership, money, and interest. If the names were "Texas/OU" instead of "Baylor/TCU" the talk would be how OSU was on the outside looking in today.

Here's what's happened in games in which a team went into a game thinking they DESERVED better or that their opponent didn't belong:

1990 Holiday Bowl: Texas A&M 65, BYU 14
2004 Holiday Bowl: Texas Tech 45, Cal 31
2007 Rose Bowl: USC 32, Michigan 18
2007 Fiesta Bowl: Boise State 43, Oklahoma 42
2009 Sugar Bowl: Utah 31, Alabama 17
2012 BCS Title Game: Alabama 21, LSU 0
2012 Chick Fil A Bowl: Clemson 25, LSU 24
2013 Cotton Bowl: Texas A&M 41, Oklahoma 13
2014 Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma 45, Alabama 31

He didn't blame Rice. He said that she was the only person on the committee that's from the Southern region of the country. He also said that when Archie Manning went out he knew that it was going to be trouble. He basically said that people from outside the south don't like southern football

Remember when an undeserving team that didn't win its conference or division went to the title game and got embarrassed? Then remember when just 2 years later a team got embarrassed in their conference title game FROM THE SAME LEAGUE, yet still went to the BCS Title game only to get completely shut down?

Common thread? THE BIG 12

The committee basically said it was the way OSU won, not who they beat.

Sucks because you can't complain about the lack of sportsmanship in running up the score instead of running out the clock during wins, then reward a team for blowing another out while penalizing a team for beating another good team, but not by enough the same weekend.

You mean shutting out a team and holding the NCAA's leading rusher to less than 100 yards? THAT type of victory?

The committee says that if Ohio State scheduled Buffalo, SMU, and Northwestern State they'd be undefeated.

Yeah, he's commenting on the politics of it all.

This would be a bigger bitch fest if it was a SEC team that got jumped by a B1G team for a spot.

Would be a huge one but no chance of that happening this year. Thank God.

If those were his words then he's right and I'm saying that as a non-homer.
