1. A little worried but not too worried. Yes Florida is a better job, but at the same time, Petrino took a LOT of flak for jumping from Louisville to Atlanta, and then from Atlanta to Arkansas. It was a beating like I've never seen a coach take, and (naturally) Hog fans had his back. For him to jump would risk inflaming things even worse than his previous moves did.

Keep in mind, Petrino had IMMENSE trouble building a staff at Arkansas because of his relative lack of connections in the coaching world combined with all the flak he took. We lost a lot of staff (Lorenzo Ward, Ellis Johnson) and Petrino had to beg a lot of folks (Garrick McGee, Steve Caldwell) to come aboard. I'm not sure Petrino wants to go through all that again.

Am I blind enough to think that there is NO chance he jumps? Of course not, but I don't think it's a forgone conclusion.

2. As much as I hate to say this...Malzahn would probably be at the top of the lists. I'd like to get Harbaugh, but he's holding out for Michigan IMO. Mike Stoops has done a decent job turning Arizona around, and if he can do that at Arizona, he could probably do some damage at Arkansas. Leach may campaign for this job, but I don't think he'll get it.

Well, we with all our "crappy" talent, are in a BCS bowl and Florida is lucky they are in a bowl period...with all that Florida talent.

Come on man, Petrino hired Cinkovich partially to dig into Florida talent. There is some very underrated talent in Arkansas, but south Florida is the jewel of recruiting. They chase rabbits and shite.

1) Are you nervous re: Petrino to Florida?

2) Who would your top candidate to replace him be?

Answers:

1)Yes, I'm nervous. I am not delusional, I know that Florida is a considerably better job. I hope they don't go after Petrino. If they do, I hope he is too settled in to NWA to accept the job. I will not be comfortable until this job is filled.

2) I honestly don't know. Gus is an obvious answer, but i'm still not convinced that he is ready to lead a big time football program. There is a lot more to it than just x's and o's. He would come in with a small portion of the fanbase rooting against him from day 1.

1. No, I don’t worry about things I can’t control.
2. Useless to speculate because he is staying at Arkansas.

However, for the sake of argument let's say the Pertino does leave. I would thank him for the job he has done and wish him well because he has proven what Hogs Fans have been saying for years in that with the right coach Arkansas will be in the hunt for the SEC title and BCS Bowl Games every year.

Petrino is a great coach but he isn't the only one that could be successful at Arkansas (hell a dunce took the Hogs to Atlanta twice and Ford took us another year). Nonetheless, I have no doubt whatsoever that Petrino's successor, whenever that time comes, will pick up right where he left off.

Only a couple? Jobs that are a step-up from Arkansas:

USC
Oregon
Texas
Oklahoma
Nebraska
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Michigan
Tennessee
Florida
Alabama
LSU
Auburn
Georgia

I wouldn't be worried at all about him leaving for openings at Oregon, Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Auburn or Georgia.

I'm in no way saying that Arkansas is better than any of those jobs but I just don't feel for a variety of different reasons that any one of those jobs is such a significant step up that he would bolt.

USC
Texas
Oklahoma
Ohio State
Florida
Alabama
LSU

I wouldn't blame him one bit if he left for one of those.

What I was getting at by "crappy" players is...the ones that are not rated very highly in Florida. The ones that Florida did not want. It was a response to another poster. It was a compliment to our coaching staff. We take 2*'s out of FL (Javontee Herndon) and turn them into 5*'s. Javontee, in his limited time this year as a true freshmen, outplayed 4 and 5 stars at Florida and Texas this year. I think Petrino likes taking under the radar kids and making them a superstar.

I'll add this.....

You knew this when you hired him.

Better?

You still added zero value. The question wasn't would you be surprised if Petrino left. It wasn't, would you be mad if Petrino left. No one is taking up for his job hopping tendencies, etc. It was a simple, "are you nervous." So again, go away and troll somewhere else.

I think you are mistaken. Florida>>>Arkansas in football talent. It's not even close. That alone would be a reason to go.

There is a lot more to wanting to coach somewhere than where high school talent is located. Petrino seems to be doing quite well at Arkansas getting enough talent to make a serious run at the SEC and take us to a BCS Bowl Game.
