The morality clause negates a buy out correct?

IF somehow Petrino gets through this and is retained, I feel terrible for Arkansas because things will be downhill big time. Imagine all the negative press and attention he will get to every road game he will travel to the rest of his time there and MOST importantly how recruiting will drop off because every coach will have every recruit's mother hating Petrino by negatively recruiting this.

I'm not an expert, but that's what I understand.

Petrino's contract would be negated by the morality clause, however then he could sue as well.
Whoever the new coach would be would certainly need to be bought out. This cost would be real. Right now they'd be too close to the season to get anyone so they'd probably have to make an internal promotion and hope they don't stink for a year until they get who they really want.

Without a leg to stand on.
Buying a coach isn't an issue.

No. Results on the field say he's a good coach (until he faces teams that recruit significantly better than him. then he craps the bed). The NFL draft says he recruits like shite.

can't say that yet...He'll have up to 5 drafted this year. Davis and Wilson will be drafted high along with Hamilton and Gragg at their respective positions.

Yes, but it doesn't negate a potential lawsuit by Petrino that would probably net a few million anyhow .

This is his first senior class leaving and even then he only recruited towards it for one month. Out of it he is about to put 3 WR's in the NFL and a DE. You could also see Jerry Franklin and Tramain Thomas get picked up as well.
Last year he put Ryan Mallett, DJ Williams, Ray Dominguez and Demarcus Love in the NFL.
Of our current offensive starters Tyler Wilson, Cobi Hamilton, Knile Davis, Alvin Bailey and Travis Swanson for sure will get drafted.
The man will churn out offensive players to the NFL no matter the star ratings. That would be 13 guys put in to the league in 3 years. Right now Arkansas only has 16 guys total in the NFL.
Now defense is a whole different ballgame.

I doubt he'd win...

Are you nuts? We didn't fire Dubose for his affair until he started losing. The only division our fan base would have is whether to give Saban another motorcycle. Dude can do what he wants except maybe murder somebody. Petrino should have the same discretion.
If Saban murdered someone, they probably deserved it. I'd recommend six months suspended sentence if I was on the jury.

Hurt recruiting if he stays?
No way. If anything it would help it in a big way. Bad things happen to good people all of the time, and by U of A standing by Petrino in such a difficult time this would go a long way in proving to parents that their sons will be sheltered at the U of A through thick and thin.

It's a tragedy no doubt. Why couldn't this have happened to Gene Chizik? There is no fairness in this life...

WTF? You can't be serious. So cheating on your wife with an engaged chick is a good thing for recruiting parents? All that proves is that Petrino will do anything and hurt anyone to do what he wants.

Another possible problem for Arkansas is that Mike Slive could suspend BMFP...
Keep in mind that Slive suspended Bruce Pearl long before the NCAA acted because there was no dispute of facts either.
Here the same is true.
Given that Petrino is admitting he promoted his mistress and that he lied to his boss, I believe it's likely Slive will suspend Petrino for at least part of the SEC season even if Arkansas doesn't act.
Could I be wrong about this?
Certainly.
But I believe Slive will send the message that lying to your boss is a lie to the SEC as well.
Don't get hung up on the NCAA issue, Petrino violated an ethical obligation to the SEC to be honest and truthful.

If it was a process related murder, then I couldn't see giving him a worse penalty than OJ.

Lol. Okay...so maybe that is a stretch, but yes, I'm partially serious. Petrino had a weak moment. It could have happened to any of us. The U of A can't turn their back on him. Now that would really send a message to recruits. "Come here and play for us, but at the first sign of trouble, we will leave you high and dry." That's not the message we want to send.
If he stays on as coach, every 5 star in the country will say. Damn!! Now that's the university I want to play for. Petrino made a big mistake, but they rallied behind him and helped to pick him back up. What a great University!!

Ya I don't think that is a good thing for certain. That is something the University will look at for sure. If he can still perform his job duties, then it isn't as bad. If they think this is going to kill his ability to get recruits, then it is an issue. Maybe he'll have to focus on recruiting kids with lonely single mom's. You know Bobby will put out.

Or they'll avoid Arkansas because they have to compete with the coach for the same women.
