I'm honestly really bummed about having to play the Piggies. I loved Mizzou's series with Texas A&M and wanted it to continue. We'd already at least spent some time gradually building a series with them in the Big 12, and it gives us a recruiting presence in Texas. Arky doesn't benefit us in any way, shape, or form. And despite their plethora of trolls on this site and despite Hogville being what it is, that isn't enough for me to have any sense of real "rivalry" with them to make me prefer playing them over ATM.
I know for the Aggies' part they were ready to ditch us since they've been our bitch in football for the last 10 years, but that might have changed if they'd stuck with it.

I think the hire after Spurrier is going to be critical to continue the progress we've made in the last few years. That's true for all programs once a great coach leaves. But we haven't hit our ceiling. It's not like Spurrier is leaving tomorrow. We're far more capable of winning the SEC than Mizzou in the near future. We have the team in place right now to accomplish that feat. Not saying we will, but it isn't impossible.
The whole atmosphere around the Capitol City has changed as far as Gamecock Athletics are concerned. Once our baseball team won the CWS, the culture changed. No one will see our football program's ceiling until we win the National Championship. It's a building process and we're light years ahead of where we were just a few years ago.

I don't understand it either but I understand that there are teams for which I truly loathe and yet love to play, i.e. Texas and Oklahoma. and I think we, as true Arkansans, perhaps have an innate predisposition for it.
I don't want to be "their Kansas" in any way. I'm serious. That's a different league of hate.
Rivals either happen or it they don't...but I would welcome it if it did.

I think the piggies and tigers should merge into one giant interstate school system that would dominate a huge area of the country in recruiting and win championships.
Our mascot would be an incredibly ugly tiger/piggie hybrid called a Tiggie, Pigger, or a Tigerback.
Of course the football team would play in Columbia, Mo.

Can't speak for all Tiger fans, but for me that answer would be no. And hell no. That was so ugly, and so bitter. And it needs to die.
I'm looking forward to establishing new, healthy rivalries. More good natured competitiveness and less all-out hate of everything associated with the school, athletes, fans and entire state.

Booby had started the Hog/ Mo. State rivalry,but I feel Hogs/Mizzou will be better match up.Arky fans have always felt their program was superior to that of Missouri.Now,we will find out if they are correct.
