After relieving Terrell Buckley of his duties last week, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has made his hire to replace the former cornerbacks coach in Oxford.
Arkansas assistant Sam Carter will be the next coach in the secondary for Ole Miss.

In 2021, the Hogs were 35th in interceptions, 36th in passing efficiency defense and 41st in passing yards allowed.
Prior to arriving in Fayetteville, Carter served as a defensive quality control and analyst for Barry Odom, who is now the Razorbacks’ defensive coordinator.
During his first year at Arkansas, Carter’s defensive backs quickly displayed a knack for turning over their opponents. The Hogs’ 13 interceptions were second most in the SEC and 13th most in the country. The Razorbacks featured the nation’s only freshman duo to record multiple interceptions in Hudson Clark (3) and Jalen Catalon (3).

all Ive heard is that he is a good coach, a better recruiter and willing to sit you down until you learn to play well with others. doesnt have favorites

That’s cool and all. I already said in this thread he’s a good coach, just a terrible culture fit here. Dude was fighting other position coaches on the sidelines.

Lanes offense torches a lot of secondaries when healthy and we were mostly healthy for Arky

Coach Carter is a hard working coach. Great recruiter. He did a good job for us.
In order to expand his coaching, he needed to move on, it will help his resume. He still a young and hungry.

He frickin/try-ta-frick player's GFs. Budget DB coach, we didnt try to counter offer.
Will fit right in with Joey Freshwater as a wingman. Your DBs will get torched, though, and blow assignments. Also- he'll waste a lot of recruiting budget going back in forth to "back home" in Nawlins while never landing anybody from there above a 3*.

He pretty much was a let-down. Over hyped. BUT- he is good for Ole Miss in 2 ways. 1) Used to the drop-8 2) Will frick co-eds with LK.
