did you see LSU in the late 90s before Saban? or Florida under Ron Zook? if you Arky fans are constantly going to suck Petrino's cock because of what he's done in his 3rd season then expect a logical comparison that shows that he's, in fact, not in the same class as championship coaches yet.

The talent was there. It wasn't at Arkansas.

there was elite talent at LSU when Nick Saban took over in 2000?

You can search if you want to. You weren't even here for most of the off season.

This isn't a flame, just a simple question. Some of you are really showing your colors.

I was and nothing of what you claim is true.

The majority had the win total in the 9-10 range.

Louisiana is talent rich. Also, I missed that you put Saban at LSU as a reference.

June 2010. Off season starts in January. Do the math.

Anyways, there were posters here who expected to get into the SEC championship game with hopes of winning it all. Fail to accept that as reality at your own risk.

i predicted 10-2 with losses to bama and georgia. However, I did not predict for us to lose Dennis Johnson, lose Childs, lose Broadway, and end up playing one of the toughest schedules in the country (with A&M, Auburn, LSU, MSU, and USC all exceeding expectations). I am absolutely delighted.

If anyone is going to try to flame hog fans for being satisfied, I would like to know if they predicted us to finish in the top 10 after the regular season.

I thought we would go 9-3 with losses to UGA, Alabama and LSU so I would definitely consider this year a success.

Any Arkansas fan that thought we would win a national championship this year was high on a little more than just life. Our defense still has/had holes in it that you can't fix in one year. We made tremendous strides on that side of the ball this year but it wasn't ever going to be enough to run the gauntlet of the SEC.

Irrelevant. This topic wasn't about who decided to post that they believe Arkansas would make the SEC championship and possibly the national championship. The topic is about whether the season disappointing or successful in your eyes?

If you don't like the question then you don't have to post on the topic. Get your head out of your arse I'm not flaming.

Because DMAC and Jones were at Arkansas while Petrino was there...

Certainly not I. I was satisfied with Auburn's 8-5 record last year

And I thougt I'd seen every angle on ragging on us! Trying to diss us for being happy with a 10-2 season with a top 5 SOS is pretty lame. Especially when we struggled to beat mighty Western Illinois at home to open the 2008 season on the way to 5-7, 7-5 the next two years.

You want to hear that we're not up to 'Bama or LSU's level? You got it. But we're making progress. Only time will tell if the progress continues.

This is America and you are not entitled to your place at the top. You have to earn it every year. We have hopes and dreams and will continue to have them.

What happened in the SEC west this year was good for the SEC. Good luck next year it should be another fun year with a real dogfight for the top spot.

Well lets break it down then:

We started ranked in the preseason at #17.

The games we played

Win- Tennessee Tech who finished 5-6 (4-4) after beating Jacksonville State 35-24.

Win- Louisiana Monroe 5-7 (4-4)

Win- Georgia 6-6 (3-5)

Loss- #1 Alabama 9-3 (5-3)

Win- #17 Texas A&M 9-3 (6-2) Big 12 south co-champs

Loss- #2 Auburn 12-0 (8-0) probable SEC Champs

Win- Ole Miss 4-8 (1-7)

Win- Vandy 2-10 (1-7)

Win- #18 Carolina 9-3 (5-3) SEC East Champs

Win- UTEP 6-6 (3-5)

Win- #21 Ms. State 8-5 (4-4)

Win #5 LSU 10-2 (6-2)

Final Poll Rank #8
Bowl appears to be the Sugar

We went from the opening game to the final game ranked in the polls for the first time since 1989.

We are on the cusp of an 11 win season for the first time since 1977.

The team has shown continued improvement throughout the season. When called upon due to injuries, the back ups have shown to be more than capable. Has anyone noticed that we had true freshmen playing in the secondary the past couple of games?

So was the season successful? Yes.

Could it have been better? Of course, we were competitive and led in the 4th quarter of both losses.

Was those two losses disappointing? Absolutely.

I didn't like how the wording was going with hog fans expecting "sec championship/BCS championship" this season.

Only 2 teams can make the SEC championship game, we beat one of them, soundly. We were unfortunate that another team was having a better year in our division.

I'm happy. There have been years where the team we have would have been disappointed with 10-2, but not this year. The SECW was amazing. I thought 9-3 before the season started with a possibility of 10-2 if the ball bounced our way. My assumed loss was Alabama and I thought we would lose one of the two games against either USCe or LSU. I never saw Auburn exploding the way they did, it wasn't the USCe game that I realized that they were definitely a force but even then I didn't think they would be 12-0.

Just think, if Cam would have never been at Auburn our game yesterday could have been for all the marbles :)

For reference: LSU has the same record and is disappointed.

For reference LSU could be 13 - 0 and half their fans would be disappointed and calling for Miles to be fired cause they didn't win big enough. Just to put things in perspective. Hell half of them are already figuring they will win it all next year without even knowing who will be playing. You see they have more talent than 7 or 8 NFL teams.
