Yea.

Bammers may say something different, but that's what happened. Kids don't cry on stage if it is something they knew about beforehand.

While you watch the video understand he already knew. Bama had only offered a grey shirt sometime before the announcement. My guess is right before he went in front of the crowd. The video doesn't show him walking off.

D Philon signing day

Many probably don't remember but he was an early commit to auburn but flipped after getting the bama offer. He then got hurt his senior year iirc.

It was a raw deal at the time, but to be honest it probably worked out for the best... he still got to play big time college football and got way more PT and development than he would've gotten at alabama.

Kid made a good choice and it worked out for him.

It does seem as if he played up the theatrics quite well. Maybe his point was to troll. Bama fans for payback?

There was no theatrics going on there. That was raw emotion with everyone knowing you committed to Bama and expected you to say Bama. There was only one hat on his table. He was embarrassed, confused, and said Bama even though he knew he didn't have a scholly offer. You have to see the whole thing. That kid was hurting big time.

Btw that shite happens and is what it is. Kids have done the same to schools on signing day. It isn't all unicorns and rainbows in recruiting.

As much as I appreciate Philon's contributions, he's an Alabama boy through and through.

It's clear he didn't really want to be here, thus getting out at the first opportunity.

Wish the kid all of the best in the league.

Yeah he wasn't playing anything up... it was real. I felt terrible for the kid despite being really happy he was coming to Arkansas. He was a good player for us for the two seasons he played and I selfishly wish for another season, but it's great that everything worked out for him and he's going to get a nice paycheck for his troubles.

Philon got treated like crap at the last minute - I'm happy he still got to play in the conference and can now get his paycheck.

Wasn't there another kid (from Georgia maybe??) that was in tears at the last minute too? I can't remember but i thought Bama/Saban was getting trashed for dashing the hopes of two recruits that day. Bama/Saban get trashed for so much I can't remember and my memory is fuzzy.

Blame it on limited scholarships. A few bad signings is the difference between getting fired as a HC. The sad part is Darius never needed to grey shirt bc some other player failed to qualify.

I misunderstood then. So he didn't tell anyone there that Bama had called and trashed his dream at the last minute...dayum. He should have taken a lighter to the Bama hat at the table and shouted Woo pig Sooie!

Some Arkansas fan on here said I was "going full retard" for thinking Philon was draft-bound. He's a good player at a position that has short shelf-life oftentimes, I don't see why that was a stupid opinion by me but oh well.
