won't change our recruiting class much. He hasn't done crap as a recruiter. Honestly this opens the door for Shannon who HAS recruited well for us. Hopefully this ends well. Given recent history it probably will not....

You're right on Ash and recruiting. Great coach, meh recruiter. But Randy hasn't done much for recruiting either. This gives us an opportunity to get a very good recruiter on campus. Hopefully we take it.

2 coaches is nowhere near the attrition he was seeing He's been able to retain Shannon at least 2 times (most recently last week) and Pittman when Bama offered him. That's 2 more coaches that would DEFINITELY be gone if he was paying them Wiscy money

I've always thought Randy would not do well outside of SFL. Has that been accurate so far?

That's his recruiting area. We haven't sent him anywhere else to my knowledge.

It actually is on par with some of his years at Wisconsin if not worse.

2009: DC Dave Doeren left for the HC job at NIU (now coaches NC ST)
2010: OC Paul Chryst left for the HC job at Pitt

Those were all promotions, Ash leaving for a co-job is worse. BB whined about Alvarez letting his coaches go, drug Ash to Arkansas with him only to have Ash ditch him for a school BB loved whining about: OSU. What heartbreak.

Probably a full day of tears and Ben & Jerry for BB.

He got Denver Kirkland for us last year who was a FR All-American and it looks like he has a good shot at landing JoJo Robinson and Demetrius Jackson this year.

Ash was a huge disappointment. He was only DC at Wiscy one year and BB only brought him here because they were buddies. Our D got worse as the season went on - and even with a lack of talent good coaching should shine through to the players by season's end.

This only clears the way for Randy Shannon to be DC. Big upgrade

I really don't think this will turn out the way you're hoping it will. And I don't drink Kool-Aid.

I doubt any. Ash wasn't really responsible for any of our commits this year. That's been the biggest knock against him since he was hired.

Well that and no one wants Arkansas' recruits

Actually I lied. A&M wants your kicker.

Arkansas had the worst back seven in the league... no amount of coaching can overcome the severe holes in that LB core and secondary.

Ash did a good job at Wisconsin... improved their defensive performance there. He did have to face some pretty stout QBs this year... it just wasn't a going to go good for anyone.

I'm curious if you even knew who he was or thought he was that great until now....

Regardless, yes...4 DCs in 4 yrs is no fun but makes me think Randy Shannon has had this locked up.

DK was a SFL kid. So I guess I was accurate. Don't know about the other two. Never heard of them.

Ash is a good DC our staff wasn't working with much thanks to neck brace.
