8 new players this year in year two. 2-2 in conference after starting against all ranked teams with @USC, A&M, @MSU and UT. Sunday also play ranked Mizzou.

Is Jimmy Dykes an Arky alum? Was trying to figure why he left an easy broadcasting career to coach women's basketball?

Yup, he played for Eddie.

And vols- didn't realize changing from the lady vols to vols was an issue, figured it was more of a politically correct sexist thing people were pushing for.

No, the women want to keep the "Lady Vol" name. "Lady Vols" is a household name because of Pat Summit.

From what I understand, all of the women's athletics teams have been changed to "Volunteers", except the basketball team. And I think it'll be that way until Pat dies.

Once she's gone, the name will change.

Holly Warlick is a once in a lifetime coach. How many other coaches could take the amount of talent on a squad and turn out such miserable performances. The thing is...as crappy as they are, they will still at least make the sweet 16.

That's probably the only job she'd leave SCAR for right now.

The Girlcocks have had a nice 4 years but lets not act like they are some powerhouse that wouldn't be a stepping stone to a better job.

Well then he's stupid then- did he give reasoning for the change?

It was primarily driven by Nike. They thought that by consolidating the programs to a single name, they could eliminate the Lady Vol SKUs, and focus on the Volunteers brand. What they didn't think about was that (regionally) the Lady Vols brand is very strong and marketable/self-sustaining.

First he tried to sell everyone on all of the Tennessee teams being "One Tennessee". When that didn't work, he tried to blame it on Nike, which was complete bullshite. When Nike denied pressuring the athletic department to change the name and logo, he basically said "well, it's done, and there's nothing we can do about it now".

Between the both of your replies it's sounds like a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it which he ignored and went all 'new coke' anyway.
