Why are they playing so late?

Maybe you should move to Florida. Plenty of cheap seats at the Mac. Better yet nah, you have a bad attitude.

ESPN carried all 4 of the SEC softball games first as they are in the tourney. Gators and Dores started after the last game (like 8:30) EST

Only 5 total hits between both teams (2 for VU and 3 for UF) and the Gators still clinging to 1-0 in 8th.

The fans are there, but not going to get on people for deciding not to go to a game that started at 8:30 on a Thursday night. Also school is out for summer and when students aren't in Gainesville the population takes a serious hit.

We don't have any fans, but our team swept LSU's garbage arse team this year

This. Guess fans in the stands don't equal wins on the field.

Actually first 500 got "Late night at the Mac" t-shirts. Got mine.
Gators scored 1 run bottom of the first and with our pitching it was enough to seal the deal. New school record 12 SEC wins in a row. Now home watching MLB - Zunino throws runner out at 2B.

Would LSU sell out if the Lady Tigers were the top Women's hoops team in the conference? If not why is Florida struggling to sell out in an even more niche sport a big deal?

Gators should have drawn well but it was a thursday night and the kids were probably out drinking. Earlier game might have helped but Gators AD should have put in something to draw a big crowd with the nature of the game. Vandy is a top team, it was not like the bottom of the SEC was in town for a series.

I get that part, what I was referring to was who fills in when the kids are gone. Then you market to "family night" type things. Having a game at 8:30 on a thursday night kills any hope of tapping that market. If you tap that market you do 5 or 6 pm and free hot dogs and popcorn for the kids attending that game.

Gainesville is a college town-it's students and professors and their families that make up the city. It isn't like Lexington, Knoxville, Baton Rouge or Nashville. Tuscaloosa's crowd vs. the Gators was sparse last week because it was during Bama's graduation.

It's close enough for people from Jax and Orlando to travel (like during basketball season), but on a Thursday night?

We didn't have a choice on the start time. ESPN moved the originally scheduled 7:30 time, supposedly due to the SEC softball tourney coverage. Trust me, I'm barely hanging on this afternoon, and getting grumpier by the minute.

Tonight we start at 7:00. I hope we have lots of strike outs so an usher will throw a t-shirt at me and wake me up.
