I'm sure most of us would have no problem saying we would let the softball or golf (men and women) teams go in order to ensure football would remain but what about academic programs? For example, I would be tempted to advocate getting rid of the AU College of Human Sciences if it meant the football team would stay.
We actually HAVE non-baseball/football/basketball teams that turn a profit. Women's Rowing..... I seriously have no idea how but they ran an article about it a year ago or so. They are in the black every year.

Most of those programs are run through large endowments set up by ex-athletes. Our softball program is dealt this way and has paid for the complex that was built a few years back.

quote:Meh. For the most part I agree, but some people modify an existing major to make it more specialized which I think is okay. For example, a buddy of mine combined a psychology and biology majors to allow him to graduate in 4 while doing ROTC. While many of the people in there are looking for an underwater basket weaving major, there are some legit majors there. Unfortunately, I don't think the ratio is all that good.
New College.

People axing all the liberal arts programs and not realizing that their gonna have no girls to take to the games.
I'd sacrifice all the ENGR programs. Let them become the trade school they are. Fine Arts, too. Could probably eliminate the Music program... any sort of pop psychology program like Women's Studies.

I'd just shut down a satellite campus or two.

Auburn has college of Human Sciences for that which is the design schools ie. Interior design, clothing design etc. I dated several girls in that college and avoided most of the liberal arts girls due to them being strange for the most part.
