lol. saban pretty much lost 3 gmes a year while at LSU and his tenure ended badly. yes, 2 SEC titles and 1 Natty in 5 years is really damn good, but nothing like the dominance he's showing now.

in fact Bear Bryant was not nearly as dominate as what Saban is doing now.

Saban was here 5 years. One year he won a NC with one loss. The other 4 years he had at least 3 losses each of those years. Y'all would have fired him with that record.

I don't know, but he definitely was planning for his future while he was there. Worked out perfectly.

Saban averaged about 4 loses a year until 2003 and then in 2004 lost 3 games. I would not say he was a dynastic guy here in Louisiana.

Saban was really not great here. He may be the best ever now, but that wasn't the case during those 5 years.

The way he turned LSU around was remarkable. To make LSU a national player was unbelievable but it wasnt a dynasty. LSU will never do what Bama has done. I've said it before. Had Saban stayed at LSU from 2000 to now, he might be sitting on 2 national titles. That's about all he could muster there.

Sorry buddy he would have 6 or 7 easy. Please explain to me why he would not. We must not have the talent Bama has.

LSU leads colleges with number of players on NFL rosters

Wait, for saban or any other good coach to make lsu a national power is unbelievable to you? Hahaha. LSUs best years of football are still ahead of them...been saying that. As long as louisiana continues to produce great football/nfl talent like it always has then it's just a matter of time before we get the right staff in place to run this shite right and get this thing going/keep it going. The potential for lsu football success is sky high and has no ceiling. It's just a matter of time before all the right pieces are in place. If you want to argue that it can't be done at lsu then you don't know what you're talking about, plain and simple.

I mean, LSU has really never been close to a dynasty, even on a conference level.

I guess if you take away two big events... 1) Rematch against Alabama 2) Tyrann Mathieu being kicked off the team.

If neither of those two things happen, and LSU comes back with Mathieu in 2012, they've got a pretty decent shot at going back-to-back as national champions.

But even then, back-to-back national championships doesn't make you a dynasty, to me.

We were very good from 2001-2007, for the most part. That's probably the closest LSU has come to some sort of prolonged great success. 4 divisions titles, 3 SEC titles, and 2 national titles in that span.

LSU was also really fricking good from 1969-1971. People forget those teams.

But short answer... no.

Other than tradition and maybe a little bit more money in the program, what is the difference in the programs at bama and lsu?

Talent base- lsu
Fan base- idk it's really close though bama has more bandwagon/sidewalk fans. Both are huge.
Coaching- bama
Facilities- toss up
In state/regional competition- lsu
Tradition-bama
Expectations- both expect and demand championships
Athletic department budget/revenue- bama but not by wide margin mostly due to recent dominance...that can change.

In other words. Lsu can do what bama has done and thas not even a question. There are only a handful of programs that can but lsu happens to be one of them. The potential is there and it's undeniable. Will they do it idk? I would bet that lsu is in for a great stretch of success within the next 10 years. It's just bound to happen.

deep down inside they know the potential and it gives them a slight feeling of unease. aTm is the other player who could get there with the right coach and staff in place. frick Florida I'll never say that again about the Jort wearers.
