Except for one awesome season with Manziel they weren't really dominant.

Texas A&M was "good" when they had RC Slocum and the wrecking crew defense.

6 conference titles over a period of 9 years is dominant. (1985, 1986, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1993 SWC Champions)

Looking through LSU's football history, I count a total of 14 conference titles (4 shared, 10 outright). They never won more than 3 over any 10-year period.
