We kill Ole Miss with kindness, I guess.

Not even a little bit. If you've travelled with the team throughout the conference and seen the fervor with which every SEC fanbase burns with the desire of beating LSU you'd understand what I mean. Since the current run of success starting in 2000, every SEC west school marks the calendar mentally for the LSU game. Tiger players and fans do this as well. Facing the SECw opponents and perennial eastern opponent Florida amounts to one colossal rivalry for LSU fans each year. 'Bama and Ole Miss are definitely the top two; 'Bama just because they've been the captain of the SEC forever and really rubbed the Tiger nations nose in the eleven-year run from '71-'81 which old-timers like me won't soon forget. Ole Miss because once upon a time that was THE rivalry of the deep south and one of the top five in the nation along with 'Bama-Auburn. The passion died down as Ole Miss endured a sustained period of mediocrity but I see some of that intensity being renewed in recent years. Being right there with UF as the top teams of the past decade and playing them annually has provided yet another arena for Tiger nation to feel intense passion, though I think there's a greater degree of respect for one another than is felt for the SECw foes. We're LSU and the south is our rivalry. Don't need nothin' else IMO.

I would rather be the only game in town. LSU competes with no one for instate players as far as rivalries.

Arkansas actually was not going to be invited to the Big 12. That was later confirmed by SWC dickheads and Broyles. If FB wouldn't have made sure we jumped to the SEC, Arkansas most likely would have ended up in C-USA.

As for the OP- I DO wish we had a true rival again.

I'm with Memphis. There's just no real rivalry. They form naturally from playing meaningful games year in and year out and then they go away when we get the best of them. I just don't care enough about Arkansas to feel any real hatred towards them. Now, I do hate Auburn, but they're already in hate with someone else. I hate Bama, but they'll be irrelevant again soon enough (like they were for nearly 2 decades before Saban came in).

Arkansas, can't y'all just do something really egregious and unforgivable like rape our mascot or something. It would solve everything.

LSU's "arch rival" is whichever SEC team they get to beat up on next.

If you look at Bama's record against LSU the last twenty years, there is no way in hell that Alabama was irrelevent before Saban got there. Somebody needs to look up facts before they post.

I'm jealous sometimes. But on the other hand I like not having someone up our arse all the time trying to turn us in to the NCAA

I lived in Florida and got to experience the UF-FSU rivalry back in the 80's and early 90's. It was a constant everyday thing no matter where you went.

I thought it was a little excessive at times. Kind of glad LSU doesn't have that.
