So would you say all members of the Big 6 should be above this?

Or would teams like Tennessee be allowed to celebrate an East title if it were to fall their way in a few years?

It's an accomplishment for sure. I hope our squad from this year is proud of winning one of the toughest (if not the toughest) divisions in CFB. It'll be noted in the history books, added to the flag at the stadium, featured on the bowl ring. Our fans will recognize it as progress for the football program but that's about it. Likely the only time a fan will boast about it is when he wants to troll.

Winning your division is always something to be proud of.

GA should have been proud when they won it in 2011 and 2012.

Mizzou should likewise be proud.

Bottom line you should always be proud of winning your division.

Going into this year, we were hoping for a Division Championship, and would have been happy with one, so, yes.

You have to win the division before you can win the SEC.
ETA
You should always hope and play for more, though.

Still one of the top divisions in CFB and still better than east. Why not be proud of a SEC west division win?

ETA: I'm aware OM didn't win it out right that year, but my entire point is more than Ole Miss. any team that wins the west should be more proud than any division winner in CFB. That's my point.

My point was in 2003 it was a shell of what it is now. LSU and Ole Miss were the only two teams ranked in the top 25 at the end of the season. By comparison the east finished with 3 ranked teams. Auburn finished that season receiving votes.

Winning the west pretty much means your a top 5 team at a minimum most years.

This is the first year the winner of the SEC West is not playing for the national title since 2008. Three teams have done it in that span (Alabama, Auburn, LSU)

Nobody from the SEC West played for the title in 2014.

Let me rephrase.

Ended the SECCG in contention for the national title.

If you’re a message-board propagandist, then no.

Otherwise, sure.

It is contextual to the school, their circumstance, and the overall culture.

For instance, if you went ~40 years without hanging any sort of banner in your stadium, a western division co-championship might be celebrated, even if you didn't play in Atlanta that year...

We should give him half credit because it doesn't get much more West in the continental United States than Oregon

Ole Miss thinks so. Even when it’s co-division champs.

College Football has morphed to a Sport where is you do not win a NC, it means nothing. It means nothing to win your division, your conference or just to make it to the CFP. You have to win it all in order to hang a banner. Ask Washington.
