No. I'm insinuating that the QB spot will be improved, even if marginally so, by experience and Guice (who would be the feature back at most teams in the country right now) and Williams will shoulder a similar portion of the rushing load.
So when all signs point to him getting roughly the same number of carries, why would the assumption be that he would be "run into the ground?"

Well, the hits are harder in the NFL for one. For two, the NFL doesn't rely on RBs nearly as much as they do in college. And three, yeah, some RBs in college are ran way too often.
I'm glad Bielema is going to run like four of them this year.
I would imagine Fournette's numbers drop off this year with the emergence of Juice and the simple fact he is going to try to conserve his body for the grind of an NFL career.
ETA: I would think that these stats above, combined with a team's ability to have two superstar backs at the same time would be a chance to recruit AGAINST teams like LSU and Georgia who like to run their backs like 500 times a year.

LSU and UGA huh? Bama leaves them nice and fresh for the league?
All 3 programs have proven to go by committee when they have the numbers by the way.
And those 3 schools have recruited the RB position the best lately, kind of counters your logic.
I agree with the rest of your post however

Fournette is not a normal occurrence.
2014: most carries was by Fournette at 187
2013: Jeremy Hill had 203
2012: Jeremy Hill had 142
2011: Michael Ford had 127
2010: Stevan Ridley had 249
2009: Charles Scott had 116
2008: Charles Scott had 217
2007: Jacob Hester had 225
2006: Jacob Hester had 94
2005: Joseph Addai had 187
So prior to last season, LSU's leading carrier has averaged 179 carries during Miles' tenure. That's about 60% of what Fournette carried last year. Only four other times in Miles' 11 seasons as HC has LSU even had a RB with over 200 carries in a season. Fournette is just a special talent, but Miles has been pretty well known for running 3 and 4 running backs every game.

Do you know the meaning of "mortal"?

Yes, obviously.
So you are asking us if we think a college football running back will die from too many rushing attempts. Well, since it has never happened and I can't even conceive how it could happen, I'll just say "no".

although the SEC isn't far off.
Yes it is. College RBs don't take nearly the beating that NFL RBs do on a game to game basis.

The poster you're responding too clearly has an agenda. It's useless presenting facts to him.

I'd go out on a cypress limb and guess he's speaking of the mortality of their football career.

Barry Sanders 1988

Herschel walker 1981

Which I clearly said but of all RBs in college football, SEC ones take worst hits

Guice is a stud. He will get more carries this year than last.
Nope, too much emphasis will be put on LF and the Heisman. Can't have fewer carries and the trophy.
Know how I know you just started following college football within the past five years?

If Fournette was smart he would have just sat this year out.
he would cost himself money doing that. That would rub a lot of NFL GMs the wrong way
Maurice Clarett and that WR from USC nobody remembers would probably advise against Fournette sitting out a year.

Also for those that think Fournette might have been overworked last year... Not only did Henry averaged 1 more carry per game, but was also 62% of alabamas carries compared to 59% of LSUs for fournette
You're totally missing my point. Henry left college with 600 career carries in 3 years.
Fournette is closing in on 500 in only two years time. He still has one more full season left..

No, it shows the NFL is a passing league and teams can find value in a couple of guys. Like the saints did in 2009.
The Vikings have had some solid teams, but when they are losing in the playoffs, it us usually because the other team has a better QB, not a better rb.
