I would prefer that he's innocent.

If he's guilty, I hope he's charged.

Football-wise, it would be a shame for the FSU team and it would probably leave a bit of an empty feeling for whoever won the BCSNC to not know whether they could have beaten FSU at full strength since they have been the most impressive team in the nation and that includes Alabama (pre-Iron Bowl).

I hope it's settled one way or the other soon. I think that it is in poor taste how the authorities are handling this. It is quite obvious that they are waiting to make a decision until after the football season is over. To me this is wrong for several reasons.........one no other person would have been treated this way. If they were accused they would have been arrested. They may have been released later, but at first they would have been arrested.
Secondly, what is this saying to the family of the victim. She went to the authorities after whatever happened, and they have done nothing to help her. If the police and FSU is covering this up, then I think that they should be punished like Penn State. Give some respect to this young lady.

They have already made a decision and are announcing it today, before the season is over.

Without knowing all of the information the police and DA know, you have no way of knowing this.

If they were accused they would have been arrested. They may have been released later, but at first they would have been arrested.
If the arrest were made simply based on the accusation it would have likely been unconstitutional. Not to mention he wasn't even IDed as the alleged per until a month after the initial report.

Do we know we have a victim yet?

quote:

She went to the authorities after whatever happened, and they have done nothing to help her.
Again, you don't have enough information to know this is true or not.

Well, of course they should be.

What if she is falsely accusing a young man of rape? Does she deserve respect then?

How about we wait until there is enough information released to make intelligent and informed responses?

I would hope most are just wanting justice to be served. Football is just a sport, the other matter impacts a lot of people's lives in a very serious way.

Agreed but I suspect you know, as well as I, that these are some of the most difficult cases to prosecute unless there is clear physical evidence. DA's, in my experience, hate to bring these cases unless he/she believes it is likely to be successfully prosecuted. But DAs are political creatures too and that sometimes influences whether or how they prosecute.

You backpedel better than Georgia's DBs.

I state clearly that I believe the charges won't make a difference as to whether Winston plays the next 2 games or not. I give you the actual terms of the university's policy on such matters providing the administration with leyway; yet you somehow misconstrued that as "backpedaling". Makes sense. You have a bright future in politics my friend.

ETA: I am with Mark Schlabach on this as well, it doesn't appear charges will be filed anyway, rendering the point moot.

we have no way of knowing if he really raped the girl. That will always be unknown, no matter how this turns out.

He might end up with an idiot of a defense attorney and he puts him on the stand and has a break down Perry Mason moment and admits his guilt.

Btw it was weird that you didnt mention Mizzou in the title. We have just as good of a shot as Auburn at the NCG.

I thought the exact same thing. If either FSU or Ohio State lose, the winner of the Auburn/Mizzou game is in the driver's seat. Why is everyone forgetting Mizzou?

As witnessed by your masterful implimentation of the 2nd stage of a successful backpedel, I'd say that it is you, my friend, who'd be the one with a bright political future. I hear Obama is looking for some help with damage control.. I think you would be perfect for the job.

Because the SEC is having a down year.

Good heavens, what a compelling well thought out rebuttal. How ever could I have been so averse to acquiesce to your opinion before this moment.

It has nothing to do with football. If he is guilty lock him up if not drop it which it appears will happen today. I think a warrant would be issued for guilt not a press conference.

I think they are making sure they can save face for the appeared cover-up(if it happened)of the event. High profile case with major national news following now. Probably the reason in the beginning they did not do what needed to get done to avoid getting to where they are now.

In regards to Winston and name being smeared that is on him and FSU for not cleaning this up almost a year ago. They thought they swept it under the rug and now it bit them so I could care less if it lessens the opinion of voters for him. Their own fault for that being sloppy.

I agree. Seems fans are convinced that if someone can beat UA they are unstoppable. AU fans need to worry about Saturday and do not look to Jan/ just yet.

Don't take me wrong I want AU to win and even go to the NC because it makes our loss look better. If they do not win Saturday they will not even go to a BCS game and then we get an asterisk by our season finishing 12-1 but lost to a 2 or 3 loss team that did not even finish in the top 10.
