I actually specified the lower 50% of Bama fans. Maybe it's the lower 30%. I dunno...it's a much larger contingent though than AU has. Same # of grads (roughly), Bama has a much larger fanbase...it's just math. It's one of the only downsides to having a larger fanbase...you also end up with more rednecks, douches, etc... But it's actually more than that. For rednecks, Bama fanhood is part of the Alabama redneck schtick. Gotta have a truck, gotta hunt/fish, gotta hate queers and most black people, gotta be a Bama fan or you're out of the club. Lastly, those that are in no way associated directly with the university are just going to choose the winningest program most of the time...for the same reason the Yankees have more fans than the Mets...and that makes it even more likely still that they'll be douches. Like I said though...the top 50% or even more of Bama fans are good folks...I have lots of friends and colleagues in that group...and because your fanbase is so much bigger, you probably have more good fans than AU. The ratios are another matter

Look man, you are going way overboard. I know the type fan you speak of. It's no coincidence that they choose Bama to cheer for, it is just their state school. I promise you that half of our fanbases isn't made up of the stereotype you describe. I wouldn't think so anyway. I don't usually associate with redneck trash though so maybe you are right and I just haven't seen them.
Edited to add that it is truly pathetic that we can't discuss anything on the rant whatsoever that even hints at mentioning Bama without our fanbases being attacked. You can't talk shite about the team so you guys turn your venom toward us. It ain't right dude. I get that we are rivals but I think it is classless to treat other posters like shite because of the team icon above their name. I don't get it. I hate Auburn and Tennessee but I don't take it out on the fans.
