Oh and another UofL fan on the scout board was at the game, said there were maybe 100 black people at the UofL-UK game yesterday, and that includes players and coaches. Good example of diversity there.

Well, the state of Kentucky isn't exactly a diverse state... Louisville included.

Hey A&M how did Johnny football work out for you all this year? If you can't win with Johnny football you'll never win the SEC West.

Oh and now that his college career is over except for one game, we can start talking about the pros. I look forward to draft day when Bridgewater is drafted #1 and Johnny football is sitting there in the green room.

Haha well luckily compared to the rest of the state Louisville is pretty much NYC in terms of diversity and I'm glad it is. I think living in an area where everyone looks the same and has the same beliefs and interests would be incredibly boring.

Teddy will be playing in the NFL long after Johnny football has become Johnny who.

I give you all credit for recruiting black players to a university who's arena is named after one of the biggest racists in all of sports, who, if he had his way, would have never allowed black players to play. Those must be some nice paychecks.

Adolph Rupp's high school team in Freeport, Illinois in 1927. Rupp was the first coach at Freeport to have a black player, whom he started, on his team there. He was also only the 2nd black student to graduate from the school.

But you're totally right, Kentucky paychecks made him do that.

I'm a minority in my city. Louisville at 22% African American is weak sauce.

This entire thread is hilarious for someone that doesn't pull for either side. This has gotta be an alter though.

Hey 22% african american is a lot better than the state overall which is less than 8% african american. Louisville is also 3% asian, 5% hispanic, and 2% mixed races. The state overall is less 3% in all of those demographics, sad.

Only UK fans would try to make Adolph Rupp sound like he's not racist. Then Belle answer me this, where were the black players at UK in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s? Where were they? Adolph Rupp had the chance to recruit them and openly decided not to because he wanted white players only! It wasn't until the 66 NCAA Title Game against Texas Western that Rupp's stance changed because he knew the days of winning it all with only white players was over.

Lexington is 14% AA, 2.5% Asian, and 3.3% Hispanic, and 3% other races. It's not exactly the rest of Kentucky either...

Yeah the thing is most UK fans don't live in Lexington and a lot of UK students come from out in the state where the percentage is a lot lower. I imagine the reason Lexington's percentage (as pathetic as they are) are higher than the rural parts of the state is simply because of the horse industry and the need more cheap unskilled labor. The same goes for Churchill Downs, you go on the backside and outside of the owners, trainers and jockeys it's all Hispanic help, you hear very little English back there on an average day during the racing season.

You can't be serious.

The median income in Lexington is higher than Louisville. Must be all of that unskilled labor.

Well to be fair, the entire SEC was probably racist as hell back then.

I never said Louisville didn't have unskilled labor, I just said as a city we are far more diversified than the rest of the state and it's good to have that diversity. Better than a bunch of people with the same ideas, same beliefs and same looks. Nothing new ever comes from that type of environment and as a society we don't grow in those homogeneous environments.
