He'll be fine. Quit the reverse psychology.

No. I think he's legit.

Me too, and I think he'll largely live up to the hype eventually. But you can still say he's overhyped at the moment if you want and I wouldn't object.

I agree. I just think the hype and expectations are a bit over the top.

It's been a long 35 years, hasn't it?

I thought about it. Two national championship appearances, two SEC championships, one natty since 2010. In 2010 I think Auburn was ranked around number 22 before the season. In 2013, Auburn was unranked in the preseason.

Sometimes the pundits miss the mark the other way and overrate Auburn. But don't act like that is the rule. It is the exception. Is Auburn overrated this year? . Maybe. Maybe not. We will see.

The only thing that really matters is where he is at mentally. He always seems grounded and composed. Who gives a shite about the outside hype?

Agreed.

I think it is unrealistic to think the hype doesn't affect him or the expectations he feels, which may or may not effect his play.

I admit that before games I think more about all of the things that could go wrong rather than expecting everything to go right.

Reminds me a lot of when Tyler Wilson came in and lit up Auburn in 2010 and he was the second coming going into 2011.
Johnson may well end up being better, but the situations are almost exactly the same.

Ok, I concede that kids have access to the hype and could affect him, but I tend to look at the positives. Just my personal nature, and although proof is in the pudding I can see why he gets the hype. I also expect him to live up to it for the most part, but won't go into a melt if he doesn't. Disappointed? Sure, of course, but it is just a football game at the end of the day.

I think it's pretty clearly yes, he was overhyped. He is not only not good at this point, hes pretty terrible, and against a defense that lost 7 players from last year
