Anyone else think Jeremy Johnson is getting too much hype?

I hope he lives up to it, but the expectations on him playing in the first game of the season as a real starter against a very good defense are too high imo.

Auburn receives way too much hype year in and year out. They're not that good. Think about it.

He's a Heisman contender despite playing only one half of football last year. He may be very, very good, but the national hype is completely unwarranted.

Expectations are pretty high, but at the same time he is kind of subtle guy so I'm not sure it's the same type of saturated hype we've put on other players over the years.

Anyway, my biggest hope for JJ is what Gus said this morning, which is that JJ considers this his team and wants to get started. We lacked that last year and it really impacted our ability to manage low points.

That's the same feeling I get from our fans about Brandon Harris. Let them play a game first.

Also, Louisville is only returning 4 starters on defense.

He played more than that.

The Heisman stuff is premature in my opinion, but logically it's not that bizarre if you think he's going to be a stud QB playing in a system that can accentuate that.

I think he is going to be extremely good, but he will experience some growing pains.

I think a lot of that can be blamed on Winston and Manziel winning the Heisman from relative obscurity. Analysts are now trying to predict the next big thing instead of predicting proven players to win the Heisman.

Jake Coker was a Heisman contender with less game experience and having not even been named the starter at Bama last year. These things take on a life of their own sometime. I think Jeremy Johnson is going to be a heck of a quarterback, but if he doesn't throw for 400 yards, rush for 100 and throw five touchdowns today, he will be a let down based on the amount of hype he is getting
