if remember correctly Oliver used against Manning in the SEC championship game against AU really gave him problems for most of the game.

They had twice the offense of today's Ole Miss team....All-Americans running all over the field!

Bama hasn't figured out how to defend Ole Miss wide receiver bunch formation in 2 years, and you think what amounts to hard man to man coverage with 11 at the LOS would fare better? wtf

George Teague ran down the fastest player in college football at the time from 15 yards behind him and then stripped the ball.

didnt even really strip it just ran up & took it from him. it looked like a grown man playing against a little kid. to this day one of the most amazing plays I have ever seen.

Is that the one where the qb chunks the ball up while falling down and bounces or it off of a guy's helmet and into another's hands? Or is it the one where he sends the center out on a short dog route?

If you think OM's O is Miami of 92s level, you've jumped the fence on Mall street and gotten into the medical plants field.

If you'll watch the 1992 championship, you'll notice pretty much most of the game that every (Alabama) defensive player lined up on the line of scrimmage...Surprised I haven't seen it more often, considering how many teams have an early '90s Miami type offensive scheme these days.

While it was a brilliant game plan, it was effective for 2 reasons. One, Bama had great speed and athleticism all over the D that year...but more importantly, two, Miami was completely surprised by it. Bama hadn't shown that look much at all during the season so Miami didn't see it on the game films and were ill-prepared to deal with it...Toretta was thoroughly confused and, with the strong pass rush, it wasn't something they could adjust to effectively during the game. Bama would have 11 men on the line and one play they'd rush 8 and then the next play they'd show the same look and rush 3 and drop 8 back...and they were hitting Toretta practically every play, no matter how many they rushed...

No way a D could do that effectively all season though. Even if you have the athletes to run it, if teams have enough game film on it, they'll know how to game plan for it...

use it every game or all game you'd get punished. that night, Miami was just not ready for that defense. They looked like Michigan State 2016 vs Bama all game. Oliver was a dam legend as far as defense goes. also, getting to the QB while rushing only 3 players helped. they couldnt even get off a pass against a prevent defense.

You like to talk about what might happen while I talk about what did happen.

Again, having 2 All-American defensive ends allows a team to do things that other teams can't.

It helped to have have 2 all-american defensive ends on the field. Geno didn't have much time back there.

Gino was confused beyond repair.
