Any SEC team ever used Brother Oliver's 11 man LOS defense?

If you'll watch the 1992 championship, you'll notice pretty much most of the game that every (Alabama) defensive player lined up on the line of scrimmage.

Has any SEC team ever used that for an entire game or even season for that matter? Did Auburn use it when Bill was there? Surprised I haven't seen it more often, considering how many teams have an early '90s Miami type offensive scheme these days.

Sounds like the worst possible defense you could run in a era when teams spread the field out so much.

Brother Bill was our head coach for 5 games IIRC.

When Dubose was the DC for Stallings, he would have them all up at the line a pretty good bit.

Tennessee did in Baton Rouge under Dooley. The five additional linebackers cost them the game though

That 92 Bama secondary was one of the fastest I have ever seen. They could give a WR a 10 yard lead and they would still run them down.

Miami ran the spread all night that night. I can't think of too many plays where Torretta lined up under center.

Brother Oliver was a defensive genius. I hated to see him have the fallout with Coach Stallings and then with the alleged promise of the Auburn head coach position. Brother was far ahead of his time.

It helped to have have 2 all-american defensive ends on the field. Geno didn't have much time back there.

Wrong. Brother was his nickname like "Butch" would be, so the "B" is capitalized.

Whats up with the "brother" name? Was he a mason or something?

He was the only male sibling among a bunch of sisters. Down south years ago, that wasn't an uncommon nickname. I've known 4 or 5 "Brothers".

run that defense on Ole Miss today, and they will score every time they touched the football.

Do you have any idea what Miami's offense looked like back in '92? They had twice the offense of today's Ole Miss team....All-Americans running all over the field!

This post got a lot of downvotes.... but it was true. Hell, George Teague ran down the fastest player in college football at the time from 15 yards behind him and then stripped the ball.

literally. He wasnt a small guy. wanna say he was around 6'2" 220 and he just had that dumb jock look about him. I totally could see him walking up to some kid and taking his lunch and being like, do something.
