Just trying to generate actual basketball talk in whatever way this Yankee can, my man.

Who else is coming back in the backcourt for Auburn? I remember you had good guards but dunno the status. Antoine should start at 2 guard from day one no matter what one would think, would he be displacing a returning starter or no? Who is gonna run point? Backcourt is particularly critical with the style of play Pearl likes.

They're going to some Sweet 16's and Elite 8's and maybe Final 4's in their future..

Final 4's? Not sure if srs. He will get them to the tourney every year starting his second or third season at AU and they will make a few sweet 16 runs, but he won't be able to land the talent for final 4 runs. Also "3rd best basketball coach" is objective as there are two other coaches in the league besides Cal and Donovan that have been just as far as Pearl in the tournament.

Anyways Mason is a decent pick up, but Auburn fans are showing their stupidity if they think he will average anywhere near 25 points a game. He is most likely a 10 point player in the SEC. 44% scorer and 28% 3 point shooter are not good percentages.

We lost our SG/leading scorer Chris Denson to graduation. We return our starting PG and add transfer PG KC Ross-Miller(he is a thug btw). We return our starting 3(KT Harrell 2nd leading scorer) but at 6'4 he is undersized for the position and lacks the quickness to defend most 2's.

12.5 ppg is my hope and I agree that most of our fans are way too excited about him joining the team. He took a lot of shots for a really bad team in a lower level mid major conference. The 2 things I like most about adding him is he will help fill the scoring void left by Chris Denson and he gives us another Sr which in turns gives us another slot for next years recruiting class.

ETA: We are at 16 scholarships if everyone makes it in who is committed.

Thanks. Yeah it seems like having a coach like Pearl and the system he runs should help minimize the lack of size for Harrell at the 3, a perimeter 3 guard lineup coming at you of Harrell/Mason/Shamsid-Deen (who I admittedly had to look up just now) should be OK. Ross-Miller's 8 ppg or so at New Mexico State aren't exactly inspiring on paper but as an off the bench role player sounds like he'd be serviceable. Hope Utah Valley isn't on your schedule.

Iona and Manhattan probably would have finished in the top half of the SEC last year, don't act like this is the ACC or some shite.

No.

It would have been close. Depending on schedules they could have. Both Manhattan and Iona were better than UGA.

UF, Tenn, UK, Ark and LSU were better. Mizzou and UGA were similar, but probably worse.

That said, Mason's PPG average is extremely deceiving. Just an absolute chucker last year. If Pearl doesn't reign him in he could be a negative.

He was 44% from the floor, which was higher than our team FG%. He wasn't that good from three, but was good inside the three point line.
