Sounds like no good players wants to go to his shitty school.

I mean, he oversaw the machine being built. Sounds like some sour arse "X's and O's" type coach. The head coach is the CEO, and at that, Saban is the best.

Bert has his faults but he would come up with something better than a musket howitzer comparison. Whoever this is lacks humor.

Nah, I think it sounds like some dumb shite he would say to sound tough, plus he's the only one in the conference being substantially out-recruited by Bama while still talking about how he wants to compete with them.

A great college coach no doubt.
Works at a school with a stacked piggy bank, facilities etc too. And able scare the shite out of 18 year olds etc.
We did see what he could do with the playing fields much more even, and with full control, at the NFL level however.
This is why I don't take college football too seriously with the stacked deck stuff perpetuating itself. A giant popularity contest all the way around.

Well I mean Bert doesn't try to sound tough, he tries to sound like he cares/a softie.
That hardly makes sense, it is comprehendible but I would hope all coaches want to compete with Bama. If not. they need a new career path.
I'm not even enamored with Bert anymore, in fact, unless some unexpected magic happens this year, he can waddle on down the road. But your reasoning sucks regardless.

The "Saban isn't a great coach but a great recruiter" myth is quite comical, you can look at 2008 to blow that argument out of the water
can also look at his time in NFL. Had much more success than most college coaches that make the jump and his Miami teams were just extremely talented. He also wasn't forced out like chip Kelly, etc.

You can say that again.

Article claims they interviewed coaches.....not head coaches.
For all we know these 2 were assistant strength and conditioning coaches that said that.

Don't blame Saban because he brought the Howitzer. Blame yourself for only being able to get a musket.

I don't know about a howitzer. It's more like what Arnold Schwarzenegger built out of scratch to destroy the Predator.

Sounds to me like the coach is saying he's allowed to cheat more than us because of his relationship to Mark Emmett, thus better talent, but we have to blow him anyway.

That's what happens when you bring a knife to a gun fight, mother fricker!
I will agree with one thing: I don't think CNS is a brilliant tactician. He's just smart enough to recognize that he's not, so he tries to out-talent you. And outwork you. And he does. Is that so hard? The other GOAT coach for Bama, Coach Bryant, would deadpan he didn't know shite about football but he was smart enough to surround himself with people smarter than him. I don't understand why people get pissed when others take a simple, tried and true formula and use it to beat your brains out. Nobody is stopping you from doing the same.
